I have just installed BOINC 6.6.36 and find that I cannot access the websites or forums for any project in the BOINC manager. With the previous version a browser window would open and show the relevant project web page. Now, a program (KImageMapEditor) which I didn't even know I had on my PC opens with the message that the file does not exist.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and installed 6.6.36 using boinc_6.6.36_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

Is there something I need to do to configure it so that I can use the website buttons?

Boinc tells the OS to open the default browser. You need to make sure that the OS knows which is your default browser. I don't know Linux so I can't give you instruction on how it is done on your OS.

Obviously not, or else KImageMapEditor wouldn't be called.

I don't know the *buntu way, but in Fedora/KDE, there's a menu called "System Settings" that has a place to set defaults.

Try here for the Ubuntu way.

Well, actually, it is. The Ubuntu way to set this is System ->Preferences->Preferred Applications. Here the web browser is set as Firefox and it is set to open a new link in this browser.

My BOINC on Fedora 11 is possibly giving a hint to fix your problem:

BOINC Manager tried to display the web page
	http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/
but couldn't find a web browser.
To fix this, set the environment variable
BROWSER to the path of your web browser,
then restart the BOINC Manager.

And yeah, Firefox is set as default browser in system settings here...

Thanks, but that didn't fix it. According to 'set' I have
BROWSER=/usr/bin/firefox
and when I click the button, boincmgr's status line says 'Launching browser', but KImageMapEditor pops up instead.

I guess it's something Ubuntu-related. I'll have to wait until the package appears as an update.
