Forums are updated again, mostly code for the PM system. Nobody likes it And yes, it has broken the index, if you see that. ;-) A bit broken, indeed... EDIT: the EDIT button looks just as fugly as all the rest. |

EDIT: the EDIT button looks just as fugly as all the rest. You should see all the buttons I have all around these days. ;-) |

EDIT: the EDIT button looks just as fugly as all the rest. For moderation I guess? |

EDIT: the EDIT button looks just as fugly as all the rest. Yep. It's a bit crowded now. Buttons everywhere! |

Forums are updated again, mostly code for the PM system. PMs will again be set to read once you read them. No need anymore to check them and mark as read. Pfew. |

EDIT: the EDIT button looks just as fugly as all the rest. Firefox on Fedora: Konqueror on Fedora: I haven't looked at Vista yet, nor Ubuntu (got it upgraded, but borked my monitor resolution in the process). Kathryn :o) |

... On WinXP in Firefox with default skin the buttons look soft, round edged and snuggly. ... If you switch WinXP to optimized performance, the GUI looks exactly like that of Win2k. Optimized performance means that there are more CPU cycles left for crunching :-) Unfortunately it also means that the overload of bold forum buttons is a breach in style, they dominate the layout and draw attention away from the text. |

I tried a solution that gets rid of the design breach : http://oct31.de/tmp/forum.png It leaves variable space for longer translated button text. It puts the buttons in one place instead of spreading them randomly all across the message. It gets rid of one unneeded button. It isn't so much different from the current one but I think it looks less cluttered. |

It's more elegant with all the buttons in a single area. |

Just look at all those new buttons. I'm ready for more. Button-mania. Having them light up in different colours would be neat. Yes, I'm going to lie down now. Buttonnerd. |

Somebody on the Seti forum has the buttons in jewel colours. I don't know what there is to complain about. The buttons probably only look big because we're not used to them. Put them all alongside each other at the bottom of each post and it'll look clean and organised. Anything and everything will be a massive improvement for the CPDN-boinc forum and will, I'm sure, be gratefully received by its patient and uncomplaining members who are accustomed to posting within a cyber time-warp: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=4696 The colour scheme there would win the Boinc Forum Design Bad Taste Award if there weren't a few other very strong contenders for the same prize. But that's a different question. |
