Ah, that looks better... I regged up, let's see how it works out from there on :)

-- edit --

Wow, using that Mailing list will take a while getting used to. I had hoped for something more like a Messageboard *ugh*

I'm with you. I don't even have email configured on every computer I sit at during the day........I do have browsers to get to a forum.

It's not a perfect solution, but what about creating a gmail account for the list. I find the conversation style especially helpful for the mailing list. Plus, it's web based, so no need for an email client.

Hm, as I start getting the whole Thread in my normal EMail, it really is recommendable to setup a dedicated EMail Account for participation - then I'd say it gets quite usable. Gotta work on that :)

Just installed the 5.9.4 and all bugs I've seen in the 5.9.3 are succesfully fixed. Good work!

- sortable columns now working on X2 and DualCore CPU
- Preferences, network usage, additional work buffer now work correct

There is anywhere one bug more ...

Benchmarks on AMD64 X2 processors are pending in a wide band. Here my measurement for the 5.9.4 on XP 32bit:

1........2........3
1915 1937 1934 Whetstones per CPU
3940 2041 3958 Dhrystones per CPU

Seems there is a problem with benchmarking X2-CPUs.

I must correct my posting. When I decrease the value from 0,25, BOINC try to load a lot of work, more than he can do in the estimated time. It's the same bug as before under 5.9.3. After new editing I found instead the entered 0,20 now 17250,00.

When I stop internet traffic at the firewall for prevention downloading this large amount on workunits, BOINC immediately hangs.

Dual core benchmarks is a known bug. It was first identified sometime late in the 5.7.x series or early in the 5.8.x series.

I've had the Boinc Core Client on Boinc 5.9.4 Crash on me 3 times today while crunching CPDN, It comes up with a windows error report, Each time i've shut boinc manager down & restarted it, and it lasted another 10-15 minutes, I've returned to
5.9.3 and all is well. I'll reinstall 5.9.4 and see what the reports say.

it the first time, and the other times i went back to check.
I had installed it at 10.17 on the 22nd, and it had ran O.K
in the morning, then i played a game in the afternoon,
and fired Boinc up later in the afternoon.
It's been running almost 2 hours now since reinstalling it,
with no problems.

Is there a debug dump in stdoutdae.txt or stderrdae.txt?

It should start with something like "engaging BOINC runtime debugger" I think.

O.K, there's nothing in 'stderrdae.txt', just old stuff, my last Application Error was at 15:54:16, in 'stdoutdae.old' i have:

2007-04-24 15:54:07 [---] [time_debug] dt 11.000000 w2 0.999987 on 0.858778; active 0.999533; conn 0.005986

at 15:54:18 it's logged my connection as -1.000000, i assume that means no connection, in 'stdoutgui.txt' just before i restarted boincmanager i have
'send: -1' five times.

What other flag's should i enable? I'm using BoincView.

this appears to affect integer/ALU-MIPS, viz., Dhrystones, much worse than FPU-MIPS (Whetstones) under both Win'XP & Vista - it'd certainly b interesting to know why -- but more importantly, is there a bug# associated w/ this issue, & when is the fix due ?

I'm running Windows Vista Business Edition and get this error when trying to install (Windows Installer) 5.9.5:

(eventvwr.msc / Application)
Error 33:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\BOINC\boinc.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
Error 11920:
Product: BOINC -- Error 1920.Service BOINC (BOINC) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
Event 11708:
Product: BOINC -- Installation operation failed.

Basically, BOINC refuses to install and gives an error message on the screen that states "Can not start boinc, Retry / Cancel." When I click retry, another of the above entries is added to the Application Event Viewer.

This problem doesn't exist when I use the 5.8.x series installer.

There have been reports of trouble with the install on Vista on the mailing list.

How are you installing BOINC? (single/shared/service)
Where are you installing it? (c:\program files\boinc (the default) or somewhere else)

Installed as service into the default location (C:\Program Files\BOINC).

While it was installing as service I tried a few things- after the error appeared, I sent into services.msc and changed the logon account from the one I was on in AD to a local user in the administrators group, went back to the boinc installer and tried retry and the same thing .. also tried using local system account with and without enabling interaction with the desktop.

One of our developers took a look at the error and his thought is the error has something to do with a Visual C Runtime library from Visual Studio Express 2005 - though a "msvc80.dll" doesn't actually exist for redistribution. I can't vouch for any truth to it, but I can't find it on the net to download.

Hardly, in my opinion.

Try to install BOINC to any other directory than the default directory, as Vista doesn't allow much writing to C:\Program Files\ directories, even if you are THE administrator.

Just don't fight Windows, it knows best, and install to another directory, such as C:\BOINC

Found an old friend again :

Linux V5.9.4 and 5.9.5 still have incorrect Cache amounts.

With 0.5 days set and 5.8.x showing a nice ~12h Cache, the 5.9.4 and 5.9.5 cache too much.

Not as bad as 5.9.3, but still varies from 18h to 26h.
--- edit ---

I've opened a Trac Ticket, see if we can work this out from there.

The installation problem I mentioned above was solved in v5.9.10.

All worked without fail, no errors in the system event log.

Just FYI. :)
