Restricting new account creation

There have in the past week been many, many new accounts created. Some have been used for spam, the others probably will be put to that purpose. We need some way to allow real volunteers to create an account, but to keep out the spammers. I have an idea we could talk about through other channels. --Eric (talk) 16:03, 30 March 2012 (PDT)
