Hi, yesterday, Thursday 14th November 2014, I downloaded the latest BOINC software which included the vbox setting. ALL my Internet services have now ceased. No Internet except for BOINC contact. I have now, hopefully, removed the vbox software and hey, I appear to have Internet access again. Wonderful job guys. |

That's because VirtualBox installs its own virtual network adapter and virtual network account. Normally this fixes itself after installation of VirtualBox, but at times it can require a reboot. Mind that this is a function that VirtualBox installs, it's outside of Berkeley's possibilities to fix this. You also do not require the BOINC with VirtualBox version if you do not plan on running any of the projects it supports. Instead you can just install the version without VirtualBox. |

That list is out of date, add Atlas@home. Clicks heals together, quick salutes, exclaiming "yessir, sir". Next time a please would do wonders. Or you can email David, get your own account at the BOINC Wiki and add it yourself. |

Issue with 7.4.27, Win64. If a project is set to priority 0 and you have other projects not set to 0, even if those projects have no work the project at priority 0 gets no work and has the error: Not requesting tasks: don't need (CPU: job cache full; NVIDIA GPU: job cache full) I tested this on both CPU and GPU. |

Yeah, that's already been reported in the development thread, I have run it as well and forwarded what I saw to the developers. I'll forward your report as well. |

That list is out of date, add Atlas@home. Email David, okay, putting that info in wetware, now where do I find this David's eddress ..... Edit a wiki, now that would mean learning wiki markup ..... Well then again this mystical David, just might put a tick mark next to the list if he adds a project to the BOINC master project list to go edit the Wiki. ;-) |

Good job guys, v7.4.27 runs without a flaw (so far) on my system. Thank you very much! I really think of getting into being an alpha tester to help bringing BOINC development forward..... I'll definitely take a closer look onto this. One thing though: The handling of the entries in the GUI list could really be better, this wasn't implemented in this release, so I am hoping for the next one. What I am talking about is here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6375&postid=56643#56643 Anyway, thanks again to the whole team! :-D |

One thing though: The handling of the entries in the GUI list could really be better, this wasn't implemented in this release, so I am hoping for the next one. Just because you asked for a feature request a month ago, that doesn't mean it'll get implemented immediately. Not only do GUI changes have to be compatible across the main platforms (do the same thing without special compiling requirements on Windows, Linux and Mac OSX), they also need rigorous testing, something not done in just a month. But at least by signing up as an Alpha tester you're eligible to request this feature on the Alpha email list and bump it there as much as you want. |

I have just installed BONIC 7.4.27 (+ V Box) to both my PC and Laptop, where I am running Windows 7 (32 bit) on both machines. (I have installed V Box, since it was offered.) Apart from my PC having the Blue Screen od Death, it seems OK now, neither will run the BONIC Screen Savers (just get a blank screen), even though I have re-booted both machines - any idea what the problem is? Apart from my PC having the Blue Screen od Death There is no one 'the Blue screen of death', it can be many. Please see When requesting help on these forums: Windows specific questions on how to tell us which BSOD you saw. neither will run the BONIC Screen Savers You did tell BOINC to use the screen saver (checked it in the installer)? If not, right-click on the Windows desktop->Personalize->Screen Saver->make sure it's set to BOINC. Do the projects you've added have graphics? If they don't they can't show graphics. |

Well, I have been running BONIC for about five years and I have never had this problem before, with the Screen Savers. However, I have re-installed 7.4.27, without V Box, re-booted and the Screen-Savers now seem to mostly working ok. Thanks for your help & advice. John F. |

One thing though: The handling of the entries in the GUI list could really be better, this wasn't implemented in this release, so I am hoping for the next one. I am pretty sure it takes pretty long testing for the immense complex function "double click left -> open properties". In fact, I cannot think how the developers of most other software I use found the time and resources to implement one of the most standard GUI functions yet! Seriously: I thought I suggest a feature you find in most software used nowadays (and the last 15-20 years) because I thought this was forgotten somehow. It was meant as a nice reminder for one of the most common functions and a little caretaking for the GUI. In fact, for me a good and well-groomed GUI is one of the essentials of good software. And I should know as a former programmer (that was long ago, though). You see, there is absolutely no point in having a go on me. And btw, right now I am confused what you guys set your priorities to. |

You see, there is absolutely no point in having a go on me. Your original proposal was on the 12th of October. I emailed the developers about it on the 13th. You then did a bump of your proposal on the 11th of November, making it seem as if your proposal had more merit than anyone else's in the Wish List thread. And then you went on about it on the 18th of November, a second bump if you will. The developers don't read these forums, not even the threads they started themselves (*), perhaps only when someone posts a big bug and it's been pointed out to them. I already forwarded your request to them, there's really no need to continue to bump your proposal until you've got a mention of it in all the threads that are open. In your last bump in this thread you wrote how you were thinking about becoming an Alpha tester, and the only thing I added to that was that you can then request stuff like that through the Alpha email list, and bump it there if you feel like it's needed to be bumped. The Alpha email list is read by the developers. (*) One exception to that rule: Charlie does react to threads about Mac problems. |
