It's not his program, David is only reporting the release of it, report the problem to the author.

I have d/loaded this today and am shocked, it makes my P4 2.0 Ghz system crash and slow down when its trying to show data from BOINC, very very badly coded VB6? What on earth? I will remove this program tomorrow as it is just too 'buggy' to be any use to me and it locks up the system while BOINC is running work units, it would have been better if the author had done this on a web page as opposed to a standalone program, on that basis, good effort but it falls down fatally at the first hurdle, i do NOT recommend anyone downloads this until it is stable.

this is very hard stuff you're writing. I'm NOT writing very very badly coded VB6 programs!

I beg to deal fairly with each other.

I can not guarantee that SETIspirit is 100 percent error-free, but I'm absolutely sure that SETIspirit doesn't crash, lock or slow down systems as SETIspirit only needs very low resources. SETIspirit has a complete error handling for each sub, so if SETIspirit is running into problems it will be recorded in a debug log file. In the past I was able to solve all the problems that were reported by users. If you have problems with SETIspirit just contact me and I will take care of it. This is the way how problems should be solved!

Also there are many users running SETIspirit without the problems you have reported!
See the opinions of others users in this thread.

Please consider that the problems you run into are not SETIspirit related.

This is a false virus warning from Norton. If you follow the WS.Reputation.1 link you can read...


"...based on analyzing data from Symantec’s community of users and therefore are likely to be security risks"


As one of my systems is also protected by Norton, I've executed today a Norton File Insight Check, see the report here...

SETIspirit v1.2.4 is released

SETIspirit v1.2.4 completes the support for multiple BOINC Projects. Almost all features of SETIspirit are now available for all BOINC projects!


New Features

· select a project to see it's week-, month- or year statistics

· select a project to see the workunits requested, received or reported events

· use the project explorer to see the details of all your projects

· the next and rotate button will be hidden, if there is only work in one slot (SETIspirit GUI and Sky Map)

· new legend for the workunits received form: x workunits received (y requests)

· new legend for the workunits reported form: x workunits finished

· the sky map workunit monitor will now be immediately reset after the completion of a workunit

· the workunit monitor of the SETIspirit GUI will not be switched to the credits & server status view after the completion of a workunit

· new setispirit forum entry in the project menu button

· debug.log entries now includes the SETIspirit version number

· improved multitasking for longer lasting tasks
