Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

That's not gonna do much for the drought or the fires.

And again I lose a post due to the project being down. Sigh.

Merlin to Arthur "It is the way of things ..."

It is also useful for once as I have now just discovered information I didn't have or knew before and can incorporate that into the post. :)

Why does southern California have so many places beginning with San or Santa?

The Spanish were the first Europeans to conquer and occupy it.

@Chris, might be because the USA stole it in a war. We call it Southern California, it is really Califonia del Norte. And a welcome from El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles

Ah, so I now see. It was all to do with Alta California and the Viceroyalty of New Spain HQ'd in Mexico. Apparently San or Santa is Spanish for Saint, and like any other Spanish town they were named after a local Saint. e.g.

San Francisco
San Diego
San Antonio
Santa Barbara
Santa Ana
Santa Monica

Interesting.

The earliest Spanish explorers of the area were priests, so they named everyplace for saints. When they reached the bay, it was so beautiful they named it for their patron, Saint Francis.

Looks like I missed the fun whilst I was away working OT.

Not trying to figure out what the Doctor's episode meant?

Spoilers: Clara dead? Missy dead? The TARDIS destroyed? /Spoilers

When quoting this, make sure to remove the spoiler, or adjust the color to the background of the quote window. Background colour for a Quote is #f5fffa, like so:

Forget it. Now we're only waiting for the sound of a whiskey bottle being opened :-(

Sorry to disappoint...
Enjoy yourselves.

*anxious charge into thread* I do hope no one has vacuumed. They don't like that, they really don't... they'll turn up when all the wood and stuff has been processed though... so if we could hold off till then...?

I don't have a certificate; but, I was tested for a number of things back in 2009. My IQ is 147.

TL

Always considered such test worthless. Maybe they work for some of the population but they certainly don't work for all of the population. I can point to my own family as individuals who these test are worthless.

One time might be unusual. 4 times is a pattern.

I've also met others who these test never place them even into the average intelligence. You'd be surprised to found out what professions they hold.

So always question any of those tests

I firmly believe that we could not
have a cat if we didn't own a Dyson!

edit:
I was going to have my IQ tested,
but I left it at home...

We have solved that issue by having a cat the same colour as our carpet.

ahem...*

Moving on :)

We have solved that issue by having a cat the same colour as our carpet.

Matching clothes to a moult is good too :)

Re IQ's I think measuring how someone might be clever or intelligent would be a better of way of establishing where their strengths and talents lie. Too often IQ tests are used to do the precise opposite, to everyone's cost... in my opinion :)

*edit: the vacuum cleaner is now toast - shame it happened first time it was used, but never mind :)
