Actually, Slicker had announced a 'minimum time to restore' of 6 hours -- I suspect most of us figured he was hoping that everything ran very slick. It didn't, but he was able to get things going last night. Good thing too, Dnetc went offline this morning. It was up for a few moments an hour or so later, but is offline again as I type this (9:30AM PST). Collatz seems to be offline right now. I thought the repairs where to be done yesterday(saturday)? Did they come back up after repairs? |

Anyone know what is happening with sudoku, rosetta@home, ufluids, or cplan? They have all been off for about a week or longer and some have passed their deadline. |

Rosetta was working thru a server crash last week -- looks like the issue resurfaced. I don't track the other projects. I'm not sure that there is an alternative project status message board which would provide other update information -- perhaps one of the stats sites maintains a useful one. |

Dnetc came back on line earlier today. There has been no information on the Dnetc site regarding the outage (either a notice before or comment afterward). In keeping with the rolling barrage of ATI GPU project outages, MW is currently offline (can't get to the home page). |

Some QuantumFire news from Martin I do have some problems with funding the continuation of QuantumFIRE, but I hope that I can solve this issue in the next weeks ... though it might take until the end of March, sorry :( |

Collatz is back on line -- there was a power outage in the area due to weather problems. |

Seti just lost another server today. Matt just posted in the tech new portion of the SETI forums. Bruno is dead. It will boot off of a linux live CD and will not allow itself to be fixed after 5+ hours of work. They are copying data to a the new server Synergy right now. New work and reporting will be offline until the new server is up. A note is to posted to the front page of SETI also. |

CPDN main project and CPDN Beta The IP addresses of some of the servers have been changed. We do not need to do anything ourselves, but this is the reason for the current outages of the beta server and kraken. In addition, kraken was almost full before this planned IP change. The transfer of data from kraken had to be paused because of the IP address change. This is affecting the upload of CPDN FAMOUS files. Members with FAMOUS files stuck in the Transfers tab can temporarily suspend Boinc network activity or take no action. |

The IP addresses of some of the servers have been changed. We do not need to do anything ourselves... IIRC some older versions (I do not remember the exact range of versions, it was some 2 years ago ±1 year?) of BOINC client were caching the server IP addresses. I believe it was a problem of the underlying curl libraries. Users of such clients might have to restart them after the outage, in order to be able to upload CPDN data to servers with changed IPs. CPDN main project In spite of the CPDN server status page only showing kraken as down, several other upload servers are temporarily unavailable because of the planned changes mentioned in my previous post. So files from some other model types, not just FAMOUS, cannot upload at the moment. I'm hoping that after the outages the files stuck in Transfers will upload automatically and we won't need to do anything ourselves... We will see! |

The IP addresses of some of the servers have been changed. We do not need to do anything ourselves... The libcurl patches were applied in changeset [trac]changeset:19774[/trac], 03 December 2009 - so BOINC versions 6.10.22 and above should be immune. Clients earlier than that may need a simple BOINC restart before uploads resume. |

SETI is back online. The new server has fewer HDs than the old server so is a bit I/O bound so thing are a bit slower than before. |

Does anyone know what's going on at WCG? I am getting: "Error The application is unavailable at this time, please try again later. Your action has resulted in an error." Edit: I can upload tasks but not report them or get new ones. I cannot log into the website and the last forum post was some 9 hours ago. Without logging in one cannot post so I assume the other members are also in the same boat. |

WCG have just announced: Website and Grid Outage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was a change that should have been non-impacting to our storage systems last night. Unfortunately, it actually was impacting. As a result, the database servers stopped and brought down both the website and the grid system. As you can see the website is back up and we are working on bring up the grid database now. At least we now know what is happening. |

At about the same time I got that message from Kevin as well. Glad he posted about it on their web site as well. :) |

Aqua went AWOL this morning -- no access to their home page or anything else (about 4 hours ago - 7AM PST). Aqua has been working up new application versions which have been causing problems (for clients and for them) so it is possible that dealing with this is the underlying issue at the moment. |

Advance notice Einstein@Home downtime The project will be taken offline for important database maintenance late on Tuesday Jan 25 (UTC). Estimated downtime is 24h, we'll try to keep it shorter if possible. There is some ambiguity over the timing - it appears that the outage will extend into Wednesday Jan 26. GPUGrid.net The server will be down for some minutes due to power maintenace operations in the building, next Thursday January 27th at 10am (UTC+1). |
