They're busy with this problem and the other Lenovo problem (switchable graphics).

Relevant to the issue?

No. That one has to do with Jack's thread.

Message 30290 - Posted: 22 Dec 2009, 0:10:58 UTC - in response to Message 29524.

I also am seeing this problem. Running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate, with a nvidia gts 250 video card running drivers 186.18 and 19x (I was running the later 190 series drivers, but due to a serious issue with mouse lag I rolled back to the 186.16, but neither has had an effect on this problem).

I can provide whatever diagnostic information you wish. One thing I have noticed when watching it fail is that it follows this pattern:

1) System is idle for set amount of time and screensaver starts
2) Once the set amount of time for the blank screen occurs the screen goes blank for a second and then flashes to the desktop (as if I had hit the mouse or a key to break it out of the SS), and then goes back to the screensaves.

Step 2 happens every x minutes, where x is the value you use for the powersave on the monitor function (I played with it to see if different values make a difference).

I would be more then willing to run a debug version of the software if that would help isolate this on my machine, or provide any additional information you need to troubleshoot this further. Just shoot me an email at the email in my profile.

I'm having the same problem. I have been able to get Windows shut off the LCD display but nothing else by disabling the BOINC screensaver in other word still no sleep, my power saving set to Windows default and I using default theme which came with Windows 7.

If you want your laptop to hibernate, you'll have to set
Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last --- minutes
(Needed to enter low-power mode on some computers)
to a nonzero value of minutes in your computing preferences.

However, in that case, obviously no computing will be done for the BOINC projects (no spare CPU cycles available :-).

The only way to get the screen to power down is to change the screensaver to something thats not BOINC. Your BOINC will continue to run but you don't get to see the pretty graphics.

Is this being worked on still?

A fix for this was added to BOINC 6.10.25, so the next recommended version will have it.

If you can't wait, and aren't afraid of a couple of other bugs, you can always try to the latest development version that you can download from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

I am using 6.10.35 and the fix does not work for me. My LCD shut-off time is set to two hours and my screen saver is set to come on after 20 minutes. When I wake up from leaving the computer on over night the screen saver is still on.

Did you set the screen saver to "Go to blank screen" and the "Minutes until blank"?

This problem is now back in BOINC manager 6.10.58 on Windows 7 64-bit. Normal windows screen savers function normally (puts monitor to sleep as expected), but when BOINC is running in the manager or screen saver mode the monitor is never turned off. Other non-BOINC screen savers start normally when BOINC manager is running tasks but the monitor is not turned off when it should be.
