I have 3 (soon to be 4) seperate machines running Boinc, all running different Operating Systems: Windows 7 (x64) Windows XP (x32) Linux (x64) (Debian Lenny) I'd like to keep the number of projects I contribute to, to 2 or 3 at a maximum yet I'm finding that there's a large variability in how projects are supported across different OSes. Nor can I find a good resource on the net advising which projects to select for different OSes. This is my experience so far: Rosetta@Home: Works fine in Windows 7. On Windows XP I get HTTP errors when uploading completed units and in Linux I get calculation erros. SETI@Home: works fine in Win 7, I get HTTP errors in XP and Linux. I've therefore had to resort to attaching to a third project, World Community Grid which appears to work well across all 3 OSes, but the WU's are much larger which isn't preferable to my setup. Any advice/observations?[/list] |

Thanks, I'll check that out. World Community Grid is now giving me compute errors on Win 7 x64... Project selection seems to be a bit hit and miss as far as I can see :-( |

True, but none of my computers are overclocked and I've run memtest86 on the windows PC's today without a problem. One issue I may have is that Debian isn't particularly bleeding edge so the boinc client in the repository may be a little old. Is there a more up to date linux client I could download from somewhere? |
