I have a problem using BOINC 6.6.36 under Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit.
The client is running well, but the manager isn't. If I execute the "boincmgr" file, no window is showing up. There is a process "boincmgr" running though, just no window. Whats more strange: Sometimes the window opens and I can use the manager without any problems.

Yesterday for example it was like this, when I tried to run the manager:
-1st try: no window
-2nd try: window opens
-I closed the window
-3rd try: no window
-4th try: window opens
-I closed the window
-5th to 10th try: no window

Today:
-1st to 10th try: no window

I can't see any pattern in this. Do you have an idea what could be the reason for this? Can I run the boincmgr file with any parameters that could help?

6.4.5 worked fine. I can still use the old manager from this version with the new client without having the above mentioned problems. But I would rather use the new one. The 6.4.5 manager has some graphical issues and it ignores the language setting when its combined with 6.6.36.

Weird.

Is this with the sh from Berkeley or the package from apt-get?

I don't have a Ubuntu machine to check.

:/

Maybe it's time to get a Ubuntu VM up and running.

The apt-get package is still at version 6.2.xx. So I downloaded the sh from boinc.berkeley.edu.

Does anyone know if Jaunty-64bit is working correctly now or is it still throwing up segfaults in about 5% SETIs and Einsteins?

I don't think that has anything to do with the BOINC client, but either your computer or the SETI/Einstein apps.

Problem solved. The Manager of 6.6.40 runs fine.
