At the moment, there is only Win (and Mac?) versions for the GR branded BOINC. It's the same thing as the download from Berkeley, just skinned differently. I don't know if there ever will be a Linux version.

That sounds like a problem for Gridrepublic to solve/fix.

GridRepublic does not offer a branded download for Linux at the current time. The directed instructions are to add the BOINC client and then to attach GridRepublic as the account manager.

If something is not working it may be a bug and we would like to know... where is this occurring? What version of Ubuntu and Firefox are you having these issues?

These are the current Linux instructions to add a computer to GridRepublic:

1. Install BOINC for Your Distribution...

There is no customized version of GridRepublic Desktop for Linux, but you can use any of the Linux versions of BOINC with our site. Follow the instructions below appropriate to your distribution:

7.10+ Ubuntu users: Click here. When asked, please click "yes" to install boinc-manager and boinc-client.

Other Ubuntu or Debian users: Install the boinc-manager and boinc-client packages through your favorite package manager. (apt-get install boinc-manager boinc-client)

Gentoo users: Install the boinc package through your favorite package manager. (emerge boinc)

All other users: Check your distribution and see if BOINC is available. If it is not, download it here and follow their instructions.

2. Connect Your BOINC Client to GridRepublic...

Run BOINC Manager.

Note: Upon first run, the Manager will launch an "Attach to Project" wizard. You must "cancel" this wizard.

Change to "Advanced View". (the "Advanced View" button is in the lower right of the "Simple View" layout)

Click on Tools -> Attach to account manager. This will launch an "attach" wizard.

When asked, enter http://gridrepublic.org/ then the email and password you used to register at GridRepublic.

That's it--you should now be connected.

Essentially it says download the normal BOINC client and attach GridRepublic as the account manager.

For future questions about GridRepublic I suggest posting in their community forums. http://www.gridrepublic.org/community

I have been volunteering when I can with GridRepublic filling out information etc. There are a lot of things which need to be done and we are always looking for more people to help. See more in the GridRepublic Community Advocacy section as to how to help. http://www.gridrepublic.org/community

Regarding the display issue. I have not seen any problems with the GridRepublic page with Firefox on Ubuntu. Could you describe what problems you are seeing/experiencing? What version of Firefox are you using? You can submit the bug and description to GridRepublic at http://www.gridrepublic.org/contact so they can try to resolve this issue.
