Given Apple's transition to the Intel platform starting next year, has any work been done on an Mac OS X Intel version of the core client, BOINC Manager, or any of the apps?

I managed to build and run the core client (CLI version) and SETI@Home app on my Apple Intel box, but I haven't tried the graphical versions yet.

Best would be universal binaries (both PPC and Intel in one binary) so users didn't have to worry about which version to download.

Building universal might require source changes, but as a hack you can build PPC and Intel separately and use the lipo tool to glue them together.

Deborah, I don't know if Charlie has started working on the Intel version yet or not, he is the "official Mac developer" for BOINC and SETI. I do know that at least one other Mac dev has been working on this "on the side", as it appears you have. If you would like to connect with him, if you will send me your email address, I will send it to him. (I don't give out anyone else's email address without permission.) I know he was looking at Rosetta (the project - this is going to be confusing...) as well as SETI, but I don't know how far he's gotten, or on what.

My email address is (from my screenname here) firstname dot lastname at comcast dot net. Also, if you are interested in providing any changes you've had to make to be put back into the base codestream, so Charlie doesn't have to "reinvent the wheel", please join the developer's mailing list. (Link here.) Your input would be most appreciated.
