CPDN main project

Although climateapps2 is back up it is going to have to be replaced. Its replacement is currently being set up and the scheduler, BOINC message board and account page functions will be disabled until the new server comes online. As the new server is not rack mounted there will have to be a second (more controlled) replacement at some future date.

CPDN main project

The new climateapps2 server is up and running but is under very heavy load.

Access to the web pages which require database access (including server status, user account pages and the message boards) is very slow and will sometimes time out. If the requested page is displayed it might not have the appearance we're all used to (caused by the content being displayed without the CSS file which controls the layout).

Scheduler requests are being accepted but there might be a delay before credits are updated.

Thanks to everyone for their patience during this outage.

SETI@home seems to have lost contact with its BOINC database:

"Unable to connect to database - please try again later Error: 2013 Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111"

Friday is not a good day for this to happen, because they are even more short-staffed than usual, and in any event their working day doesn't start for another couple of hours. Patience may be needed.

It also looks like Seti@home its database just crashed again. Although pages of their forums now load again, albeit very slowly.

UPDATE 08:20 UTC
The optimization of the workunit and result tables completed successfully.
We are now doing some index optimizations, which should take about two
hours. Then we will bring the project back on-line.

Einstein@Home is back (again).

Apr 24, 2009
We have completed the database maintenance and are restarting the Einstein@Home project. Hopefully this will go well, but please be patient as it may take some time before everything is working smoothly again. We are advancing the reporting deadlines for work in progress by 10 days, so that work already completed is not marked as unreturned. Because of the work on the database, contributors will NOT be able to see the status of work that was already completed in the past. However in the future, as before, contributors WILL be able to track this status. No contributor credits have been forgotten or lost.

Status:

Good:
Database is running more smoothly than ever, daemons (transitioner, assimilator, validator) are working through their backlogs, scheduler seems to send out work.

Bad:
All related to ABP1 is currently offline, because for some reason the connection to Hannover isn't stable. For some other reason the S5R5 workunit generator is running too slow to keep up with work requests, so the project might run out of work some time over the weekend, unless someone fixed these issues.

But after some 12 hours of hard work Oliver and I are too tired to take much care of this, we'll possibly do more damage than good. Need to get some sleep.

VTU@Home is currently off line, looks like it's been down for at least 5-6 hrs. All systems down.

CPDN main project

Milo says 'I've got the new server now and will switch it over some time this week - perhaps tomorrow [Thurday 30 April]. I'm installing the OS and copying over data now. Hopefully there will only be a very small down time as if all goes well all we'll need to do is shut the server down and swap the hardware over.'

So please be prepared for a short outage on Thursday or Friday. It will probably affect the CPDN-BOINC forum, trickles, reporting of completed models and download of new tasks. There may be temporary delays in updating information on models' web pages, the awarding of credits and the export of credits to the stats sites.

Hydrogen@Home will be down later on to update the back-end to present code. Due to some unknown cause work cannot be made again, we have given up trying to fix that until the code and DB are back up-to-date.

VGTU@Home is currently in limbo... sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn't. site has gotten very slow over the past couple of days.

it's sort of a request timed out thing. it's very slow to load anything.

Anyone know what's going on with spinhenge? First, I couldn't turn in work and now I haven't been able to access their website for a couple of days.

vtu@home site barely running, can get to main page but everything else is slow to load or not loading at all. boinc - vtu server comm seems to be in the same boat...... slow to load..... not an outage but it's close....

I recommend Secunia PSI: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/
