I am using the old version 5.8.15 for a new Vista laptop. I use the same version on a Vista Desktop and have no problems. After installing and verifying that all is well and the WCG tasks are running, I reboot the laptop and I get an error Connection Failed (World Community Grid - BOINC Client is not able to connect to a World Community Grid Client). I tried firewall exceptions on the laptop. Both the PC that is working and the Laptop are both on the same network with the same privileges. Please help me figure this out. The new version of BOINC is not able to run on Vista machines without repeated intervention at each startup.

I was about to ask if you could post this on the WCG forums since you seem to use the WCG version of BOINC, but see you already did that: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=20745

Hello
I've just installed Ubuntu (Linux) as alternate OS, and installed Boinc, but every time I start it it won't connect to a Boinc client. Therefore, no way I can download tasks...any idea on how to solve this?
Thank you

Installed BOINC how? How are you starting the manager and/or core client?

Just like I install any other application under Ubuntu. The manager looks just like under Windows, only in Windows I can make it run :)
