Just upgraded to the latest version, and noticed that opening a DOS program would result in errors. After doing some searching, discovered that the Boinc has three msv*.dll files, and these are about a year newer than once included in the windows/system and two other directories. Booted up in DOS mode, and moved the files to another directory, and then both Boinc and the system work without the error. This is a 98 machine, so don't know if it is a problem with these newer dll files having something that isn't compatible with 98.

Switched from 5.8.15 to 5.10.13 on windows xp. Rosetta task names are super long -- well beyond the associated column width. I used to be able to cursor over the Rosetta task name and have the full name pop up, but it doesn't seem to do that anymore with 5.10.13. I'm getting no pop-ups at all on any label that exceeds column width. Is this a known problem or is my computer mis-behaving?

I just checked. The full name pop up works in Accessibility View but not in the Grid View.

I'm writing to say Hallelujah! You finally fixed most of the BOINC GUI problems as it looks so far. I have been running the BOINC 5.10.30 for a couple days since I repaired my operating system by completely removing it and some older operating system setups from my computer. This was done because after I installed BOINC 5.10.30 the first time after getting it. It failed miserably. It was just installed without un-installing the previous version of BOINC, and there were some other operating system problems that prompted me to my action. The previous version had many quirks like the WU switch would not work every time. As a matter of fact most of the time it didn't work at all. 5.10.30 is fine so far, but as per my computer, and I think I'm not alone in saying it still needs to be fixed so when I open the GUI after starting my computer, it will open to the same size, and position it was in when I closed it so I don't have to find it if it decides to just show a smidgeon of itself on a corner of my screen as it did many times. If you can fix that problem, you'll have fixed a very aggravating problem for once, and for all. Please be sure to make the update to work as well as 5.10.30 is doing so far so I won't have to write for a long while again. Thanks For Almost Completely Fixing the GUI so It is Now Most User Friendly Except the GUI resizing problem and as I have noted many times before. You still need to make all text in the GUI re-sizable (The smallest text at least needs to be made one point size larger if not changeable or more ) if per the Accessibility Options Settings for those of us that can't easily read the small text. If you make the text one point size larger than it is now. That will make a world of difference. Thanks Again, and please Keep Up The Good Work.

Hi Lightsttn1

When the Trac pages recognise that I should already be logged on there, or allow me to log on again without sending me to a 'Forbidden' page, I'll look again at what (if anything) has happened as a result of what I said in Trac ticket #147. That was where I explained your request for an option to enlarge the text size in the BOINC manager to the BOINC developers.

To check on what's happened I need to read the BOINC 6 milestone page which only seems to be viewable by people who've logged on.........

I'll post back in this thread when I've been able to check on that.

I've now been able to log in to Trac and have asked whether there are any plans to implement your proposal.

Hi. James here again. One more thing you didn't refer to in your reply is: Is BOINC going to finally fix the problem with the BOINC GUI resizing itself on it's own when closed by the user? The program when opened again is no longer as set size wise by me. Their isn't a reason the GUI should change size after it is manually closed, or closed by the computer when the system is shut down. This and the text size items are now what seems to be the only problems left to be fixed at this time that effect me if the BOINC GUI has been verified to work properly otherwise. Keep up the good work. Thank You.

Hi again

Lots of people have complained at different times about the BOINC manager GUI opening credit-card size. I think this has been asked about in at least one separate Trac bug ticket. Maybe someone else could confirm that Berkeley knows about this problem.

You may find that doing the following helps in the meantime. When the BM GUI opens small, hold down the Control key while clicking on Maximise. And when you close the BM GUI, again hold down the Control key while you click on the X to close it. After that it should open full-size. But after you've rebooted you'll probably have to try the same trick again.

For me, in BOINC 6.1.8 (alpha), it'll reopen where I last put it, in the size I last resized it to. You may have to click the X once after resizing, so it sits in the system tray only, before you exit it there. Then it resizes back to the last size you were at and in the position you last had it in.

Since there's no change to this that I know of between 5.10.30 and 6.1.x, it should still work that same way in 5.10.30 (and above).

So maybe Lightsttn1 needs to upgrade to BOINC version 5.10.30.
