Message 10780 - Posted: 8 Jun 2007, 0:26:53 UTC - in response to Message 10779.

I finally have good news.

My passport came yesterday. I had changed me mailing address in preparation for moving. On the form, I put effective June 15th. Did the post office pay any attention to that?

Hell no! They forwarded the envelope to the new address.

So I still can't figure out why it took so long as the address I changed to is in the same city. But this is the USPS we're talking about here.

So now I can stop thinking about all the horrible scenarios that were going through my head (it was stolen, it was lost, homeland security held it).

So when do you depart?

Possibly tomorrow evening...

Maybe when you've arrived you could change your avatar to something quintessentially Korean and we'll be able to relax, knowing you're where you want to be.

Good idea. A plate of kimchi perhaps????

And it's final...

I leave tomorrow night at 8:55. That puts me in Ulsan at 9:20 am on Sunday.

Just a quick note to say I'm in Ulsan (minus my luggage).

I'm still tired, but having fun.

My kids (so far about 40 of them - I have no idea how many more I'll have) are great.

My contract is for a year. I hope to stay longer though. A lot will depend on how I like this school.

And on a happy note... My suitcases arrived yesterday. So I have different clothes

Thanks Dan.

All is going well. Except for the poor piece of pizza that I just burned. This toaster oven thing is going to take a while to get used to :)

I know all about the perils of the toaster oven...Otherwise known as the smoke alarm activation device.

Well now there's one thing that that appears to be going for me. I don't see a smoke alarm anywhere in the apartment.

If you cook with a toaster oven...you need the smoke alarm to tell you when the food is done.

:)

We can add toast to the list of things I've destroyed while trying to cook in a toaster oven.
