Message 77188 - Posted: 6 Apr 2017, 2:21:52 UTC - in response to Message 77109.

This is Joan Tarshis

Here is my first issue:
When I click to look at my notices, which total 4 today neither chrome or safari reach the server. It seems to be trying to log on to a “local host" and is unable to.

Here is the info you asked for:

OS Sierra v 10.12.4
Boinc v. 7.6.3.3

Running:
radioactive@home (keeps trying to communicate over and over but is unable)
milkyway@home
nfs@home
numbers@home
pogs
worldcommunitygrid
rosetta@home
yoyo@home
einstein@home
enigma@home
moo! wrapper

projects with no tasks:
cosmology@home
SZTAKIdesktopgrid
primegrid
mindnodeling@beta
LHC@HOME

Second issue:
I tried installing virtual box but the app would not respond.

Thank you for your trouble as I try navigating through a new world.

Joan

radioactive@home is a real time application, which is intended to give an early warning about a nearby radiation leak. And it requires a radiation detector, which may be what it's constantly trying to find attached to your computer.

Hi all,

Could you please post to this thread the URL your browser is trying to open when you click on the Notices tab? Click on the field in the browser window where you would normally type a URL (web address), click Select all and then Copy in the Edit menu (or enter command-A followed by command-C on the keyboard.) Then paste the data (command-V) into a message that you post to this thread. That will give us a better idea of what might be happening. Thanks.

Again not sure why we are dealing with the web browser, my boinc manager always just displayed the notice on the manager. Never opened the web browser unless I clicked on a link for view more.

To respond

I posted this earlier but here is additional information.

The only URL that I see when I click on the notices link is...

http://localhost

But I just noticed this...
on the bottom of my BOINC manager, next to a small blue ball it says: "connected to localhost (7.6.33)"

Hope this sheds some light on the issue.

I have posted a test build of BOINC for the Mac here. Please download it and test it, and post here to tell us whether or not it fixes the notices under Os 10.12.4. Thanks.

I have removed the test build and released the new recommended version 7.6.34 for the Mac with this fix for the Notices display. You can find it here.

I have exactly the same problem.

To compound the issue, it appears that my user account has been deleted. I went to login & the system didn't recognise my user details...so I had to register again.

Do you think this could be related to the problem of the blank page - i.e. the BOINC site doesn't recognise you as a user?

Apologies if one has nothing to do with the other.

Best, ed

User account where?
This site has nothing to do with any project, so, if here, have you ever actually been here at the BOINC site before?

I have exactly the same problem.

If you go to https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php you can download 7.6.34 which fixes that problem on OS X 10.12.4
