I am trying to get BOINC up and running so it kicks in when the screensaver comes on. I set the screensaver delay to 30 min and set BOINC to begin after 30 min of inactivity. The screensaver comes up, but BOINC does not start. I also tried the screensaver at 25 min with BOINC still at 30 min. BOINC does attempt to start (see messages below) but appears to believe I become active a second or so after it starts running. Any ideas? You should simply let BOINC to run projects all the time. You'll be doing more work for the projects, and letting BOINC work all the time doesn't noticeably affect how your computer runs user applications, unless you have very limited amount of memory and/or using very memory intensive applications. Not to mention that when a BOINC-related screensaver is active, it steals processing power from the client that does the actual work, so using one is kind of counter-productive. (I remembered an old topic about a similar problem, managed to dig them up, but there was nothing conclusive there: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=632 http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=634) |

I do work as a programmer on memory and processor intensive applications (and I often have to do performance testing on them), so I do not really want anything else running while I am working. However, I wouldn't mind having my computer doing this work when I am not around. At the same time, it is more pleasing to have a screen saver that shows what is being worked on. I looked into a couple things, but nothing really answered my problem. There was a claim that it was fixed, but I am still seeing it. Anyone else have this problem still? Should I enter a bug (and if so is there a bug database)? |

...is there a bug database? Not sure about a specific bug database, but there are some email lists that you can subscribe to. JOIN Team ACC |

There's still BoincZilla, the BOINC bug database. |
