BOINC 5.4.9 running at Ubuntu Linux 6.06 x86.

I have BAM account at boincstats. I noticed I can change username there. I did it. I failed to synchronise BOINC client with BAM account after that change.

I understand that it is risky idea to change username but as it is enabled why not try it. User accound has some ID, that is not changed, email address is the same as well. Username should not not be the primary key.

Is it a BOINC client bug? Or design limit? It seems that I cannot even get new work units after username change in BAM. I noticed this on SIMAP project. My SIMAP account was changed correctly, new username is there.

When I do "SYNCHRONIZE with BAM" in my boinc client I receive error "Failed to update account, user not found!"

Best to ask this on the BAM! forums.

Well, it is design feature. BOINC client uses username/password to connect to BAM. That is not smart design; from my point of view after first connection based on username (or email) and password, some key should be exchanged and that used latter for accesss. So, when usrname or password will be changed on BAM side, clients will not be affected.

Workarround is to detach boinc client from BAM and attach with new username again.

That's the way it is suppose to work, you create an account at BAM enter the URL into BAM! and attach to BAM through your user-name & password created there.

User-name changes do generally work, so as Kathryn said best to ask at the BAM forums for help and advise on why this didn't work correctly for you.

Edit: you can always sign yourself up to the Dev's email list and suggest any changes to the AMS code in BOINC and the server side code
