how early did it go down?

I don't know. I've only been up for 10 minutes; booted Prometheus, and found that SETI and Beta were already down. :-(

I think it was already down around 13:25 UTC but that is why I asked Gary if it was already down when he posted.

I think that about 7:00 @ Berkeley time, so about 14:00 UTC

First "Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance" I got 14:09:24 UTC

I'm sure they took it down early because something had crashed and both AP and MB splitting had pretty much stopped sometime late last night. Almost no work was going out.

That would have been 6:00 Berkely time, I'm 2 hours ahead and it was down at 8:25 my time

Side note,

Looking at APs currently running on my machines, something weird is happening. CPU usage on both machines just jumped up HUGELY. I'm at 99% CPU Utilization with cmdline in place, I can see where it was down to 10% then immediately jumped to 99%. My other machine has more cores to play with but it's up to 70%. Someone else mentioned this on Main late last night. I didn't think much about it, just that their cmdline probably wasn't correct but 1 machine has restarted 3 times in the last 2 hours and I'm now seeing this high usage.

anyone have any ideas? I could understand if it was 1 machine, but both? Anyone else seeing this?

Edit..

Ok, looks like when the computer rebooted, boinc didn't want to read the cmdline txt. Stopped everything and let it sit for 10 minutes then relaunched, now it's acting like it's supposed to.

Up then at least for a few minutes as I was reading stuff before I hit the commute to work.

Hey, does anyone know if that note in Klingon that says Chris is picking up the tab for anyone at club 41 tonight is right?

You forgot the check he schedule, you have bar duty here!

/me picks the code-word book for week 29 and sees that Gary's off by at least three weeks in any direction. The decoding is also gobbledygook: The purple fan hit the upcoming Plutonian moon, bar three (s)witches.

I guess we should find a sponsor for this thread, ey? What with the new direction of BOINC and all. And if it has half a million views on only 3,000 posts, it might be profitable enough for an ad company to input their merch here. ;)

I can see the ads for the crunch boxes having 50+ high end Nvidia cards now ..... unfortunately we are likely to get ads for homeopathic blue pills :p

Good idea, a little extra funding can always be used by BOINC.

Agree with Gary, we don't want the "magic blue pill" ads...

Let's see... Maybe we could get _____ to sponsor the SETI cafe.

I propose we ask one of the two big coffee companies - the ones that starts with "F" or "H" (the blue container and red container respectively).

Does the fact that the pills may work
in some cases change the equation any?

Not that any one around here needs them....

This Lindsay I believe :-)

Lindsay Moore

Yes, she'll be the one - location and previous companies are right for the source.

Keep an eye on her for me, will you, and let me know when she changes her profile to "Head of Customer Happiness"? That should be marked as some sort of red-letter day in business doublespeak.
