Where did everyone go??? :-O

I went across the road to the pub - and after an evening meal, I sat outside in the warm, gathering, twilight, and watched first Venus and then Jupiter appear in near-conjunction. And then walked home by the light of an almost-full moon.

Not often you can do that comfortably in shirtsleeves, in the north of England.

Perhaps everyone went back to Seti, as the project is back up.

Hopefully it was just something they forgot to do while it was down earlier and had to go back, rather than a major FUBAR...

Fingers crossed

Maybe it's that power testing/maintenance that bit them back.

Yesterday must have been summer - all 24 hours of it.

Tonight I walked home (again in shirtsleeves) in pouring rain, to the accompaniment of a 360-degree lightning display.

BBC

That's BT.com, but it sounds like what passed over me just as they called last orders.

Can someone send us rain/thunderstorms/heck even wind is okay? Today our max temps topped 36C (humidity 60%), after a night of 24C (hum. 55%). Please, no more. Our cats have lost the will to walk to their food/water bowls. Fans don't help.

Edit: typing that I hear thunder. It appears a thunderstorm is starting just North of us. Bad luck.

We're all OK, thanks - self, car and property.

When Chris first posted that BT link, the main part of it was the section that starts

Scores of motorists pulled over to watch last night as another storm moved up The Pennines.

In Sheffield, weather-watchers drove out of the city to witness the huge cloud which silently flashed with almost continuous lightning but with no thunder and no rain.

That's the bit which matched what we saw from the beer garden - with added rain a bit later, though none of the destructive hail or tornados. That part of the BT report was added later.

We've had some more rain through here this evening - heading northwards, I'm sorry to say, Jord. But another night of the rough stuff is forecast for tomorrow.

Looks like you might get a bit of relief, but probably not until next week. "The worst [of the heat] is done for London," according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys. "The city will still get very warm [Friday and Saturday], but nothing like Wednesday."

I know that Saturday is a day to do absolutely nothing, as then temps are expected to peak at 39-40C (although we hope for less!)
And then to think that the Tour starts on that day in Utrecht. I don't want to think about it being in that city with thousands of others watching that in that scorching heat.

Temperature in my computer room: 31.5C.
Outside temperature 32.9C

Only wearing shorts.
The table fan I have on blowing air in my direction blows hot air only.
The rain shower that the radar showed was slowly coming our way is dissipating before it reaches us.

Let's melt!

Ah and still running Seti on my GPU: 71C. :)

But then again the Spanish always were bad losers, which is why they make sure that all their bulls die in the fights.

Always disparaging anyone who isn't just like mirror.
