Message 39823 - Posted: 24 Aug 2011, 6:59:16 UTC

Hello,
I have a new office laptop with WIN 7 - 64, I installed BOINC, the latest version, but each time I restart Windows I find the status bar of all my task at 0,0 %, so I loose the jobs done previously.
I didn't see particular wrong settings...

Some help ?
Is not my first BOINC, I use it for over 10 years... without problems (but this is WIN 7 !!!)

Many thanks in advance !

Enrico

Did you try a repair install of BOINC, to (re)set the access rights to the BOINC directories for the BOINC users? [edit]Including reboot![/edit]

Thank you Jahn,
I just tried your solution, but nothing has changed.
The problem still persists.

Thanks

Are there any (error) messages in your BOINC event log pointing at your problem?

Which project or projects is this with?
Do these projects checkpoint?

Can you please link to either your computer or your account at Spinhenge, or else tell us the hostID number or the accountID number? The only rex I can find there hasn't been active since 2007.

According to your tasks list, something or someone is aborting all your work.

You're saying this happens on a work computer?
Do you have permission to run BOINC?
Does the IT department have access (through the network) you your computer/BOINC? Could they be aborting all your work (when you're not at the computer)?

When I'm not at the computer It's not possible that someone have accesso to my PC.
I don't know if someone can, via Network, have access, but in my opinion it is strange, because the PC get work and exchange informations via BOINC
I'm the user and the ADMIN of the Laptop, I also forgot to tell that I'm under a proxy and I put the address and the port data into the settings..., the same that I use for my browser (Firefox).

I just tried to simply stops BOINC manager by click with the right key of the mouse: it's the same.
So is not a win restart but the BOINC shutdown or restart.

According to your tasks list, something or someone is aborting all your work.

According to those Aborted tasks, they were two weeks past their deadline, So Boinc 6.12.33 would have aborted them:

Report deadline 9 Aug 2011 12:20:22 UTC

This is true, but only because those tasks were never executed after several attempts, due to this problem.

Well, before we blame BOINC, how about you attach to another project? There are plenty to choose from.

I found this thread about checkpointing on the Spinhenge's forum:

core_shell_nanoparticle - no checkpoints

there's another recent one, but it's in german:

Checkpointing Windows

and going back to an earlier app:

Does Metropolis 2.42 checkpoint?

I run Spinhenge as well and already saw that it checkpoints, but it does it internally. It won't show in BOINC's messages. It will show in the active stderr.txt in the slot directory.

in mc_server: found checkpoint file, res_name: spin.state
in read_checkpoint_file: found checkpoint file ...
in mc_server: reading checkpoint successful ...

Ok, I attached SETI and after some restarts of BOINC, it seems the problem applies only to Spinhenge ...
