For the last few days, my Vista-based PC has been running extremely slow only when the BOINC Manager is running.

By slow, I mean it takes 2 seconds for the mouse to respond or for the Windows GUI to react.

If I exit the BOINC Manager (via the tray), all is normal. This is highly repeatable.

I deinstalled BOINC and reinstalled the latest version. No change.

I thought it may have been related to the new Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack, but I did a Restore back to before it was installed and there was no change.

I'm out of ideas.

What projects? What version of BOINC? Are you using CUDA?

* I only run the SETI project (I'm in the top 2% worldwide)
* BOINC v6.4.5, x86
* Yes, I have an nVidia card and it's running BOINC in CUDA

Most likely that's your problem. Go to the Seti boards. It's being discussed to death there.

It was not CUDA which was causing my problem; I disabled CUDA and it made no difference.

I uninstalled BOINC and deleted the BOINC registry settings, restarted, and reinstalled BOINC. All is good again. I have no idea what was the root cause issue.
