When I shut down the program, by right clicking on the icon in the lower right corner and saying close, I can still see that it is running in my task manager, and using the processors. The only way I have found to stop this is to uninstall the program. I have Vista 64 business edition with a AMD 6400+ processor. |

When I shut down the program, by right clicking on the icon in the lower right corner and saying close, I can still see that it is running in my task manager, Under version 6.2, the Boinc Manager no longer shuts down the Boinc service upon exiting as you are trying to do. You now have two options to shutdown the Boinc service, either by clicking on the Advanced Tab in the Boinc Manager and selecting "Shutdown connected client" or go to the Windows Services control screen and shutdown the Boinc service from there. |

Hmmm ... sounds like a mighty stupid "innovation" if it isn't optional. |

Hmmm ... sounds like a mighty stupid "innovation" if it isn't optional. It depends on how you installed. If you installed in "graphics compatibility" mode (multi user for 5.x) BOINC will be shut down with the manager. If you install in "protected mode" (service in 5.x) BOINC will not be shut down just as happened in 5.x. You can also just use the activity menu in the advanced view to stop BOINC from processing. Ah, that makes sense. On a service install I haven't tried the manager yet, just BOINCview, that's why I didn't know about that bug. Thanks :-) |

Ah, that makes sense. It is not a bug. On a service install the service is supposed to run all the time. BOINC WIKI |
