...
And it's done, ladies and gentleman. [trac]changeset:14218[/trac].

Ouch ! Anyone can view a team message board

In this case, the concerns of mo.v and Pepo are rectified of course.

And anyone can join a team, post there in the board and leave again. It's not up to the founders or team admins to decide who may or may not join.

Fine, I think it's time to buy the popcorn machine to watch the inevitabole flamewars ;)

Edit 2:

I've created my first team thread in my first team forum @ BOINC Alpha:
http://isaac.ssl.berkeley.edu/alpha/forum_forum.php?id=13

Dunno how you did that, but it would seem my forum has gone up in smoke. Can't see or find it anywhere. ;)

Go to your team page, there's the link at the bottom of the information, just above the member list.

It's now also visible in the main forum index. Hopefully not all teams will become visible there for all to see, as else I dread those on team 1137... lots of scrolling for them.

Without beeing logged in you don't see any team boards.

if ($user && $user->teamid)
  ... lookup ... category=$user->teamid

so it shows only the board of the one team

For regular Joes maybe, but for moderators, I doubt it. Still lots of scrolling to do then. ;-)

Is there a list of all boinc-wide teams somewhere?

Here's one with an interesting name:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams/team_display.php?teamid=202

Going to the team website shows I didn't misread or misinterpret the team name:

The Seti ck fatwa clearly doesn't apply to boinc. Just as well; one must never be too prescriptive or judgmental.

My team has a 'Coordinador'.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams/team_display.php?teamid=191

How can I tell whether this is a real team member who decided to coordinate the rest of us and registered to do so on 21 Sep, 3 days before the public announcement of boinc-wide teams?

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams//show_user.php?userid=126

If it's a real person, how do I find out who it is, ie who has got my email address (apart from several team founders on individual projects that I already know about)?

What about the BOINCstats team list in "BOINC combined". It lists 67797 teams.

How does that help what teams are on the BOINC-Wide system?

Try this.

20 teams then, ok.

... but increasing with each click.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function team_count_nusers() in /home/boincadm/projects/teams/html/user/top_teams.php on line 71

edit : I found them : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/boinc_teams.xml containing 190 teams

Thanks for the list, Nicolas, but how did you find it? At the bottom of the page it says Return to Boinc Teams Main Page, but when I go there I can't find a link that leads back to the teams list. (That's where I'd previously looked for a link to the list of teams.)

So far 223 teams seem to have been made boinc-wide. Does anyone know how these teams were chosen from the thousands and thousands?

That's the source used by the import function.

And it contains something weird ... it contains the "crypted" email address of the founder - using this extremely secure rot13 encryption.

Can you actually see the xml file list? I get an error message.

I'm glad the encryption's so secure.

But I wonder about my own email address. My team has a 'Coordinador'.

The error message came from your XML parser, because one team has unbalanced HTML tags in the description. Any team can destroy this list easily by inserting funny XML tags into their description, e.g. opening or closing the expected tags. The <img> tag that confuses the XML viewer will not confuse the import PHP though.

I downloaded the list with "wget", right-clicking the link and "save as" will work too. It contains 190 unique entries.

top_teams.php contains duplicate entries, you'll find EarthTerminal (ID 369) twice and some more. I guess the error mentioned above has confused the cache or so. Could be a missing unique index too though.

It looks as if that .xml is messy, Coordinador is listed at BOINCstats as a member of a different team and just in one project.

I checked some projects for Catalunya and did not find that account as the founder.

We can only hope that no admin decides to use team_import.php as long as that is not fixed.

edit : Too late, Poem@home already did. I checked some more teams where I know who might have founded them but did not find other suspicious entries. Maybe just contact Coordinador and ask him about it. The EMail did not sound false so maybe he is a technical team account with no user behind it.

No panic required yet ;-)

I can't say it's that secure. With the help of my 'munged' email address I can decode the email address of everyone else.
