Along with my two Core-2-Duo machines, I am running a PIII, and now a new netbook with the Atom N270 processor.

The Atom processor is already known to be slow in the world of crunching. But I would like to see it succeed and sop up some WU's.

I need to know about projects with relatively short work units. On the PIII I am running Spinhenge and the Rice project at WCG. I was running Proteins@home, now maybe on hiatus.

I have seen immensely long WU's on the netbook, 30 hours on the same WU that is about 4-5 hours on the Core-2-Duo machine, for a couple of WCG projects, 135 hours for QMC, etc.

Can anyone suggest projects for the netbook with short WU's?

Thanks,

Rosetta lets you pick your own run time. 1 hour up to 24 hours I think.

I'm personally looking for a project with short-relative-to-their-deadline WUs, but also with low RAM requirements.

I want to run it on a computer with a Pentium IV 3.0GHz with 512MB RAM, and which most importantly is not running all the time. It's running only a few hours per day, and it may happen that it's off for a day or two.

I used to have PrimeGrid, but it seems not to checkpoint often enough. I once found WUs being crunched that had reached deadline a month before (!), because the computer wasn't running for long enough for the tasks to finish, and when it got turned on the following day, it started again from the beginning.

PS: this thread should be probably on the Projects forum.
