I've been off BOINC for a while and now I've restarted the software. One of the projects ClimatePrediction started up with no problems. The other 2 (seti and rosetta} not doing anything.

Is there something special which I have to do to get these 2 off the ground?

Probably just wait a few days for BOINC to get itself organised.
If you read the messages, you'll probably find some that say that your computer is overcommitted. This is because of the VERY long climate models. BOINC will take a little while to realise that it's not as bad as it seems, and will then download some work from the other projects.

(If you reboot, the current messages disappear, but there is an archive of them in the file: stdoutdae.txt, which is in the main BOINC folder.)

I've gotten the overcommited message and have waited about a week now for seti and rosetta to begin again. From your answer, it seems as though others are in the same boat.

Odd, it used to run all 3 projects side-by-side without any problems.

Because you haven't been running BOINC lately, some of your time stats are going to be skewed downwards. BOINC will be thinking that you are running less time during the day than you actually are.

The scheduler really tends to err on the side of caution when it comes to deadlines. So if it thinks you won't finish that model by deadline, it'll run in EDF to get caught up.

I think when your time stats reflect your current running pattern, you'll see it jump back into round robin mode.

You can also set no new work on the CPDN model and suspend the one you're working on. CPDN doesn't care about the deadlines as long as you send up the trickles fairly regularly. That'll force Seti and Rosetta to download work. Just don't forget about your CPDN model :)

The current climate model is so much longer than previous models that computers which never used to get the overcommitted message can now get it, particularly after the computer's been turned off for a while.
