Hello, I am computational biologist at the University of Vienna, Austria. The mission of my group is to advance our understanding of living systems, ranging from single species (like us humans) to multi-species and eco-systems. Computational method and powerful hardware help us investigating the huge amounts of data that are produced in modern biology and medicine, and to establish mathematical models. A special focus of my group are relations between hosts and pathogens. We study molecular interaction principles aiming at better approaches for diagnostics, therapy, monitoring and prevention of infectious disease.
Your opinions about BOINC message boards
SIMAP was initiated by Hans Werner Mewes and Roland Arnold at the Helmholtz Center Munich. In 2002 I joined the team. Roland and me established a database and calculation infrastructure for SIMAP. However, the computational power for long-term maintenance was at that time not yet available. Therefore we made SIMAP a BOINC project, which was launched in 2005. BOINC is the ideal software infrastructure for our project and we very much appreciate the great work of all developers. We are also very grateful to the many volunteers donating their CPU time to SIMAP and thereby keeping SIMAP alive and up-to-date!
