1) Message boards : Questions and problems : how does boincmgr decide who's next? (Message 88006)

I'm running two projects, milkyway and seti. My milkyway tasks have a deadline that's about 2 weeks away and seti tasks have deadlines that are 2 months away. boincmgr seems to prefer to start a seti project over a milkyway project despite the time difference. Is there a reason for this? The 2 projects do have different resource shares (25 for mw and 75 for seti) which I assume is some of the difference.
Thanks for any "edumacation" you can provide.

boincmgr version 7.12.1
OS is win7 pro
2) Message boards : Questions and problems : centos 6 rpms? (Message 40157)

I was going to install boinc on my centos box but couldn't find RPMs for it. Is there a separate repository for centos?

I tried downloading the sh file to do a non-RPM install, but when I start it, I get

./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u_richtext-2.8.so.0:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

for which there also doesn't seem to an RPM...

What's the secret to getting boinc running on centos 6?

3) Message boards : Questions and problems : Odd/bad menu interaction on windows... (Message 40156)

Running boinc mgr 6.12.33 on a VMware virtualized windows box (XP guest, XP pro SP3 and all recent M$ updates applied).

Frequently, but not always, the windows start menu just shows as a gray box. More often than not, the tabs on the Boincmgr window aren't there (in their place is the background at the time the window was restored). Sometimes but not always, menus for other programs are "not visualizable".

If I stop boincmgr, all of the menu problems go away, leading me to the conclusion that boincmgr is the problem, but, at the same time, I find that hard to believe.

Has anyone else seen similar phenomena? Is this a "known" bug? Stray cosmic rays?

Sorry it took me so long to say "exactly..." I had run always selected, not run based on preferences :-}

It would seem that the processor usage settings are "backwards" from what one might normally want. The way I read it, they specify when BOINC apps can run rather that when I'd prefer them not to run. For example, I'd like BOINC apps to run full bore on the weekends and between 17:00 and 07:00 on weekdays. So I set the "every day between hours of 17:00 and 07:00" but jobs are still running. How can I set times to allow BOINC to run only between 17:00 and 07:00?

Thanks!

I only noticed this after installing FF 4 beta, so it's possible it's something else that's causing it (and I'm not casting "blame" in any ones direction) but I was curious if anyone else has seen it...

If boinc manager and FF 4 beta are both running, the tab bar in boinc manager is frequently "missing". Probably a better description would be the tab bar is completely transparent. I can click where the tab should be and the correct action will occur, but what's there is what ever is "behind" the boinc manager window.

8) Message boards : BOINC Manager : no connection (Message 3420)

I general I'm not a fan of "me too" posts, but "me too" - sort of. I just attempted to do a windows update on my system. After a reboot, boincmgr can't connect to a local client "BOINC manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client. Would you like to try again". If I select a remote computer (either of my 2 other machines, both of which run Linux), it works fine, but I cannot figure out how to get a client started on my windoze machine. It used to work fine.

I've tried connecting with both fields blank and with just the password blank. I've tried rebooting a couple of times. I've run out of things to try...

Help! I need to find ET :-)
