2) Message boards : Questions and problems : Fan(s) Running Hard on my MacBook Pro - BOINC configured to "Use at most 5% of CPU time" (Message 79829) Posted 29 Jul 2017 by Don Vinton Post: I installed BOINC a couple of days ago on my MacBook Pro. Not surprisingly, the fan(s) really cranked up using the default configuration. I want to keep my MacBook Pro online running BOINC, contributing to the cause, but not pushing this laptop at full tilt. I've been dialing down the 'Use at most x% CPU time', it's now set at 5%. While using the laptop all quiet, but when I leave the laptop the fans are really cranking away when I come back! I understand that that during that 5% time period the cpus will be cranking away but that shouldn't warrant fans running all the time. Any feedback, guidance, is appreciated. Regards, Don
