1) Message boards : News : Client version 7.14.2 released
Message 88821 Posted 12 Nov 2018 by Don Vinton |
Hello, I received notice of 7.14.2 availability as a WCG release, not a BOINC release. Why the change of ownership (I assume in name only?)? Regards, Donald Vinton |
2) Message boards : Questions and problems : Fan(s) Running Hard on my MacBook Pro - BOINC configured to "Use at most 5% of CPU time"
Message 79829 Posted 29 Jul 2017 by Don Vinton |
I installed BOINC a couple of days ago on my MacBook Pro. Not surprisingly, the fan(s) really cranked up using the default configuration. I want to keep my MacBook Pro online running BOINC, contributing to the cause, but not pushing this laptop at full tilt. I've been dialing down the 'Use at most x% CPU time', it's now set at 5%. While using the laptop all quiet, but when I leave the laptop the fans are really cranking away when I come back! I understand that that during that 5% time period the cpus will be cranking away but that shouldn't warrant fans running all the time. Any feedback, guidance, is appreciated. Regards, Don |
