1) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Linux - BM screen updates only when mouse is moved (Message 32908)

Post:
Running 64 bit 6.10.56 on Ubuntu 10.04 64.
Things seem to work fairly well, except data on the BOINC Manager screen is updated for a few seconds only when then mouse is moved or a key is pressed.

Obtained boinc_6.10.56_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh directly from here. Extracted and installed in home directory, run_manager launched from BOINC sub folder created.

Other background screen information continues to refresh properly.

Any thoughts on how to keep the BOINC Manager window updating properly?

On my WinXP box alg.exe, the Application Layer Gateway Service, had latched on to port 1043. Stoping that service allowed BOINC 5.0.2.7 to finally start.

Nice catch! Stopping and starting the Application Layer Gateway service worked for me too. I'm not sure why, but this is a fix that doesn't require me to reboot 1 to 20+ times to get boincmanager working properly.

Disabling and enabling my local network connection and release / renew via ipconfig has no effect.

I'm having this problem on two of my systems. WinXP Pro, BOINC 5.2.6 single user install, no proxie, hardware firewall. I manually start boincmgr and get the Connection Failed error message about 50% of the time. Trying to connect to localhost or 127.0.0.1 doesn't work and I don't have a remote_hosts.cfg file anywhere either. Oddly enough, simply rebooting my system will sometimes allow boincmgr to start just fine. Running boinc.exe first and then boincmgr.exe will work, but it leaves an open window for boinc.exe that can't be closed.

I'll be eager to see a fix for this too!
5) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Error when starting BM4.72 Linux (Message 98)

I've seen the same "SIGABRT: abort called" error message repeated when I try to run boincmgr v4.72 in Linux. V.4.43 seems to work just fine, however.
