I'm reading fun things.

Gov: You all need digital IDs!
Citizen: Why? I have a passport and driver's license.
Gov: Your passport and/or driver's license isn't secure enough anymore for your ID.
Citizen: Okay, so how do I get the digital ID?
Gov: You'll just have to identify yourself with your passport or driver's license...
😉

Why not let them start with a paper or plastic ID?
I have a plastic ID card for being able to ID myself when the police asks me to, and for trips in my country and within Europe, and a paper passport for possible trips outside those borders. I don't want a digital ID, even while the EU is trying to get that going through the with the eID (European Digital Identity, brrr) (A personal digital wallet for EU citizens, businesses and residents.)

Now, the immediate threat that you face is what Labour wants that digital ID to do, at first: "You will not be able to get work, unless you have the digital ID". Extrapolate the "you will not be able to get" to anything else you take for granted in life: electricity, water, a house, a car, insurance, groceries, health care, a bank account, (digital) money.

The problem with a digital ID is that they can track you, even better than Google/Apple can do with your phone.
It starts with one thing, and before you know it, it's a whole load of things "you will not be able to get" because you let them do that first thing.

(my opinion)

I know, you don't watch X, but the question in the TikTok video is legitimate: is the digital ID the future of safety, or the first step toward a world where every part of your life is decided for you?

Keir Starmer: "You will not be able to work without a digital ID in the UK"

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-digital-id-scheme-to-be-rolled-out-across-uk
"A new digital ID scheme will help combat illegal working while making it easier for the vast majority of people to use vital government services. Digital ID will be mandatory for Right to Work checks by the end of the Parliament."

An American cancer patient and Trump supporter was confronted by British police and told to apologise for her online posts or face an investigation.

Deborah Anderson, a mother of two, was visited at her home in June by an officer from Thames Valley Police. He told her someone had lodged a complaint about her social media posts. She told him she was an American citizen and a member of the Free Speech Union and he should be investigating burglaries and rapes, not hurty words on social media.

Chillingly, he told her he was there to get her to apologise to the person who was offended by her posts. If she refused, she’d be questioned down at the station.

What was Deborah’s supposed crime? The policeman didn’t tell her. Was it her passionate support of President Trump and the MAGA movement on her Facebook and X pages?

To make it worse, Deborah is in the midst of cancer treatment, including chemotherapy. She ought to be have been convalescing. Instead, she was harassed for her tweets.

The FSU took on her case and, as a result, the police have now dropped their investigation. But they still haven’t told Deborah which of her posts got her into trouble, claiming they’ve accidentally deleted the record of the complaint.

Thames Valley Police are responsible for guarding President Trump this week. What would he make of the fact that those same officers are visiting the homes of his supporters – including US citizens – and threatening them with arrest.

An American woman living in the UK gets a visit by a policeman, because she posted something on Facebook that someone got upset over, and he asks if she can apologize to that person. Which she refuses because free speech, she's done nothing wrong. He'll then tell her that she'll be invited for an interview at the police station to explain her post. 🤡🤡

Configuration of Websphere and IBM MQ is taking longer than expected. We are moving all provisioning, build, and deploy stages for all repos from Ansible and Gitlab CI to Dockerfiles and docker compose files, which is a step that precedes running these containers as StatefulSets on Kubernetes. So far, we have functional containers for IBM MQ, Websphere, DB2, MariaDB, and all BOINC endpoints up and running, and what we are still struggling through is configuration.

This approach will benefit site reliability and scalability in an obvious way on Kubernetes, and will improve our development and QA lifecycles drastically. It was also necessary to preserve a maximum compatibility with the CentOS 7 virtual machines that the legacy stack was previously running on, a requirement for the redirected restore of the DB2 data for example, https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2/11.5.x?topic=restore-performing-redirected-operation.

So why are we not up, and when will we be up? We are debugging the entrypoint scripts for Websphere and IBM MQ containers. Website cannot be brought up until Websphere is up and configured correctly, receiving messages from all MQ sidecars across the stack, sending emails, etc. Each of the databases, the webserver, and the scheduler have to run MQ, and we are still adapting some of the previous mqsc and other runtime configuration for the MQ service to work with this new setup where each important container that requires one gets an MQ sidecar container that uses the Ubuntu 24.04 host VM network.

While we're still keeping an eye on 3i/Atlas, in comes another new comet, called Comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN). Keep looking up! https://theskylive.com/c2025f2-info

First, make sure that Hardware Virtualization is checked in the BIOS.

Then goto Control Panel -> Programs-> Programs & Features -> Turn Windows features on & off and make sure that Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform are checked.

Asking Google AI about 3i/Atlas and radio signals, I got this answer:

There is no known link between the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS and any radio signals, though the two share a common point of origin in the Sagittarius constellation. The famous "Wow!" Signal was detected in the 1970s from Sagittarius, and 3I/ATLAS is also traced back to that same region, sparking curiosity and debate about a potential connection, but current scientific consensus holds that 3I/ATLAS is an interstellar comet, not a source of radio signals.

The YT video is talking about the Ofcom website and its rather ill demands that websites all over the world conform to their age restrictions or be blocked to the UK public.

Who decided that you can't think for yourself and decide what is harmful content? Why should the government decide for you what is harmful content? Think about that. That's called censorship.

As for not trusting news sites, you trust the BBC to inform you correctly on all world news?

You can't make it up for comedy. The UK.

"Why am I in cuffs because of something he shared, then I shared?"

"Because someone has been caused anxiety based upon your social media post. That's why you've been arrested."

Yo England, what the frick is happening over there?

Calling someone a muppet will cause them alarm and distress and is enough for 4 coppers to go arrest the person who said the damning word? Really?
