1) Message boards : BOINC client : Pause BOINC on full screen applications (Message 82137)

So, I run BOINC on my windows home computer, and if I start watching netflix/youtube/twitch or whatever after 3 minutes (my "idle" boinc time) it starts lagging and I have to close it.

I found this old thread which was asking for the same thing, a "disable boinc cpu/gpu usage on full screen detection" feature
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8450

both answers I see there are weird since :
- adding my browser as "exclusive_app" would stop BOINC in like 95% of cases it's not needed
- I don't believe it's impossible to create this feature while keeping the screensaver as exception / making it disable the screensaver if selected

I think it would be really useful for a lot of people.

Thanks for your answer, Ageless.
The article you wanted to link has the github URL aswell, but I kinda know what's going on with new GPUs right now so no problems, thank you anyway!

I didn't know BOINC was open sourced but I should have guessed it.
I followed your input and opened an issue on github, here is the link

Hi everyone,
I'm running a BOINC client on my pc since literally 2 days and I'm not completely aware of how it works yet, even if I studied IT and I'll for sure explore into it.
What I was asking myself is, shouldn't it be relatively easy and worthy for BOINC devs to give the chance to project owners to just send some (?) wu with the only purpose of mining bitcoins (or any other similar-working cryptocurrency) to self-found their project?
As far as I know, the concept of "pooled mining" exists and works, simply instead of splitting the revenues between who ran the clients they would go to the project's moneybox.

As I said already I don't really have a deep knowledge of what I'm talking about and what I'm suggesting may or may not have sense : I have no clue about how much cpu time produces how much currency and if it would be affordable to trade cpu time from any project to get cryptocurrencies.
Just wanted to ask and share my 2 cents

qwert

I totally have posted this in the wrong forum section but couldn't tell which one was the most appropriate, sorry!
