Hi all, I am posting on the wrong section but I didn't find a better one for this post.
I found this article online, perhaps some of you could find it interesting.
Here the abstract
International Journalof Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering (IJITEE)ISSN: 2278-3075, Volume-8 Issue-7S2, May 2019Retrieval Number: G11010587S219/19©BEIESP590Published By:Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering & Sciences Publication Abstract: High-performance and distributed computing are the backends aimed to equip researchers in addressing computationally intensive modeling and simulation problems. While high-performance systems, such as supercomputers, require specific knowledge and algorithms to be efficiently utilized, the so-called desktop grid systems and hybrid computing systems (as a combination of the former two classes) provide a relatively easy configurable and cheap solution for obtaining necessary computational power. Observing a large number of researchers using R language as a primary solution for applied studies (including modeling, simulation and statistical study in various fields), we introduce the RBOINC package for R language. The package allows to easily perform the so-called parameter sweep type of experiments in R language over BOINC infrastructure, the de-facto standard software solution for desktop grid systems. We discuss the implementation, uncover the possible use-cases and provide some directions for future work.

Hi guys!
I have just found a new project: https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/ (to be honest, a user of the Boinc.Italy forum, boboviz, did it... great catch!).
It looks very interesting: it's aim is to study the mechanism underlying neural networks. Unfortunately at this moment is managed only by a single person, but he seems very active.
Work is available only for Linux AMD64, but he is working on a Windows and GPU version (also a Linux-ARM and Linux-PPC64 version).

Einstein seems to have work for PPC on Mac Os X. I do not know it they actually send work for this platform, if you try let me know that I am curious ;)

I think yoyo@home has some work for PPC platform.

But my suggestion is to compile Tn-Grid for your platform (https://gene.disi.unitn.it/test): the source code is very easy and can be compiled only by executing scripts present in the source tree (of course you have to modify them by inserting ppc instead of x86); plus it requires very few ram and runs very good even on very old machines. Moreover, there is interest in its community to port the project to other platforms soon, such as Mips@OpenWRT and Arm@Android, so perhaps if you write in the forum it can be possible that some guy compiles the app for you (I could try but I do not have a ppc computer for testing) if you are not able to do it on your own.
It is a very interesting biology project and they are doing right now also researches on coronavirus.

Cheers :)

Hi all,
I really like this biology project http://gene.disi.unitn.it/test and now they are involved also in the fight against coronavirus: they are going to expand all the genes related to the illness.
I think it could be a good thing to provide an Android version of the project, especially considered that it requires few ram. I asked on the forum, there is interest but the admin is not an android developer.

The source code is here: https://bitbucket.org/francesco-asnicar/pc-boinc/src/master/ it is a very simple c++ code. I tried to compile it but I do not know how to modify the Makefile in order to make it point to the android-toolkit and boinc libraries compiled for Android. I am not an expert, but the procedure seems very simple for anyone with a clue on Android programming.

Could someone do this precious job for all the community of crunchers? Or explain me in details how to proceed?

Thank you!

How can I do it?
I tried this command found on a forum: iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 31416 -j ACCEPT but the situation doesn't change

Hi all,
I got an Orange Pi running Boinc H24 and I would like to control it using Boinc Manager on my desktop PC.
I changed the password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg, included the ip address of my pc in remote_hosts.cfg and finally tried to insert the <allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc> tag in cc_config.xml, following the official FAQ.
Nothing worked and every time I try to connect to the Orange Pi the connection times out.
I think it's a problem of doors: by running nmap both on the local or remote machine i get 22 (ssh) as the only open door, and so I don't know how Boinc could communicate...
What shall I do?
Thank you and sorry for my english.
