I know I know, but doing it like that 10 times a day is painful.
And honestly, what I would like is to be able to do it automatically on schedule by the manager.
But I guess that is too much to ask.

Each task you fail to return correctly diminishes your allowed cache at that project with one task, all the way until your BOINC can only get 1 task per hardware instance per 24 hours.

Are you saying that if my CPU / GPU miscalculates something and uploads it, that I'm punished for sending invalid work in? Nor am I notified that my calculates are incorrect more often after a possible recent change to my system?

Anybody else notice the sort order in this forum does not quite work right?
I have it set to newest post first, at the top.
When I make a new post and reload the page, my post IS at the top.
However, if somebody else makes a post and I reload the page, my last post is at the top and I have to scroll up to see newer posts other than my own.
On the Seti forums, I do not see this behavior.

Also, unless you run with <cpu_sched_debug> and at least 7.4.28, you won't see that tasks run high priority anymore. This because of a change to 7.4.23 that had: Manager: omit ", high priority" from task status. This makes it sound like BOINC is running the job at high OS priority.

I already have a prior version of BOINC installed along with two active projects: milkyway and SETI. How do I properly install the latest version of BOINC without corrupting work in progress and work ready to run?
For some reason, BOINC lost my login credentials. Wisesooth now has projects running while BOINC thinks that I am a new client.
Please advise with upgrade instructions. I do not want to corrupt project files.
Another note: I have an i7 Intel processor with an ASUS mboard, 16GB RAM, two TB of RAID 1 storage behind a 500GB SSD, also Intel. Yes, I have liquid cooling and an adequately-sized power supply fed by an APC UPS. Windows 7 Pro is running with latest upgrades.

Resource sharing is something that actually CAN be done with immediate response. I cannot imagine any reason why it wouldn't be, but I can clearly see that it isn't.

Could we please have a "Completion Time (estimated)" field in the Task tab in addition to (or as an option to?) the "Remaining (estimated)", populated once a work unit is started?

Rationale:
Sometimes I have to shut down one of my machines. When I restart it it is challenging to calculate estimated completion time for a block of work units to see if they will complete before the deadline, or if I have to abort them.

As far as I am aware, there is no functionality for an end user to accurately and reliably tell BOINC how to split our donated system resources.

All we can do is tell BOINC what projects we want do donate time to, and how we want our resources divided. After doing so, BOINC completely ignores our desires and spends all of it's time working on the project whose development team has been more aggressive about cheating the system.

If I say I want a resource share of 100 devoted to one project and a resource share of 5 devoted to another project, I couldn't care less what funny calculations are happening somewhere other than at my computer. My local machine is more than capable of tracking how much real processor time is spent on each project.

All resource share allocations should be performed on the client. Period. But for some strange reason they aren't.

Before some expert cruncher steps up and gives a thirty-step process on how you can modify this, and adjust that while restricting other things in order to maybe have a chance of BOINC doing what you have already told it to do... Once a person who is generous enough to devote cycles to BOINC projects has indicated what they want to contribute to by adjusting resource shares, that's it. Nothing else should be required. End.

This really needs to be fixed.
