I'm very upset over the current state of affairs. I've been crunching files since the start of WCG. I'm now doing Rosetta files hoping WCG will come back soon. Glad to have found this forum since FB and the WCG forum are down. |

can you recommend a good "free" throttling program? Haven't had much luck with them in the past. |

I didn't know I should contact the World Community grid for help. I'll do that, sorry. I've contacted Asus, AMD, Microsoft, Boinc and 1 other. Yesterday I had 4 cores running at 10% load. Ran for 2 or 3 minutes then crashed. It seems the higher the load the quicker it crashes. Back to one of your questions about CPU load. When 2 cores are running at 100% the CPU is showing 30% load. I wonder if I'm hitting a high temp cut-off. The temp can spike very quickly. When it crashes - The screen goes blank, the computer reboots and returns to the sign in screen. After I sign in I must catch the Grid program very quickly and set to snooze or it crashes again. |

fightaids@home mapping cancer markers openZika outsmart ebola together These files ran for a few seconds. I've tried adding 1 core at at time and the computer crashes and reboots when I add the 3rd core. My power supply is a Corsair TX650W. It's not on Johnny's list. It's run fine for 2 or 3 years. 100 to 110 F. I don't like running hotter than 110 F. With 2 cores running at 100% and the other 6 running under lite load from word processing, playing music, email and light spreadsheet work the temp is usually 104 or 106. I don't use a throttling program. Not arctic silver. Masscool Stars - 700. No, I don't slop it around. Yes, I know it conducts electricity. I'm very careful, the stuff gets all over quite easily. I put it on top of the CPU only. A lite film; no gobs. Wow!! That event viewer is cool!! Thanks. I've been running files for a couple days on 2 cores, so the event is buried. I'll cause the failure again so I can get the event log. I'll do it as soon as I can, but might be awhile. It's snowing again so I have other headaches. Thanks for your help. I'll be back. |

Thanks for responding. All projects including Beta Radeon R-7. I checked the GPU allowed box. Will be installing a video card upgrade today. Gamer style Rated at 650 watts Aftermarket Corsair H90 water cooler 100 to 110 F. Mostly 102 to 104 F. with 2 cores engaged I did that New, fresh silver something. I'm not familiar with event viewer. I assume it's a log file? Where do I find it? |

running AMD fx-9590 8 core cpu on Asus sabertooth 990fx board. WIN 10 home 64. PC crashes when I set more than 2 cores. Last machine was an AMD 6 core running on an Asus board with WIN 10 home 64. Could run 4 cores at 100% (heat limited) |
