1) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Screensaver Won't exit (Message 2058) Posted 18 Dec 2005 by Thunder Levin Post: I'm running Boinc v.5.2.13 and finally everything seems to be working. It's processing info and the Seti screensaver is working properly. I still think the whole process is ridiculously complicated compared to the original Set@home which anyone could install and use right from the get go, and the attitudes towards people who are having trouble have been annoyingly condescending. When you're asking the whole world for help, you should create a program that anyone can use right away. But I digress. My problem is that I leave my computer running 24/7, but after the monitor has powered down at night and I come out the next mornign and "wake" it up, the seti screensaver has frozen on my screen and I can't get it to go away! The only thing that's worked has been a hard reboot. Even cntrl-alt-delete doesn't bring anything up. I can see my cursor over the frozen screensave, but not hint of Windows. If this keeps up I'll have to remove boinc. For the record, I'm running Windows XP Pro svc pack 2, on a 1.5 Ghz Intel P4 with an ATI Radeon graphics card. I have the latest drivers for the graphics card. My screensaver activates after 10 minutes, the monitor turns off after 2 hours and the hard drives never turn off. Can anyone help?
