I got a suggestion to download Boinc 7.16.20 from Softpedia (I am currently running Boinc 7.16.11) to fix my issue. I don,t see this version on this Boinc sight. Is this safe to do?

Thanks for nothing people. I run a Dell PC with windows 10 and a Nvidia GPU. I have repeatably asked for help to resolve the credit certificate issue in a way that none computer geniuses can understand! I have yet to get a reply. I very much enjoy donating my personal, electricity, and computer time to Boinc, but I hate wasting it. I also get a kick out of scoring as many work units as I can. I am not looking to make money or anything else only but my enjoyment. Because of these issues, I have stopped processing Collatz Conjecture and will not come back until this issue is resolved one way or another. As a result of this, I now will make one final request for help in finding a good Boinc project that will generate decent credits with my Dell PC with windows 10 and Nvidia GPU. Or perhaps I should just stop processing Boinc projects all together!

When I try to login to Collatz Conjecture I get the following:

There’s a problem with this website’s security certificate

This might mean that someone’s trying to fool you or steal any info you send to the server. You should close this site immediately.

What gives?

Turns out I had contacted a nasty virus when I attempted to download a repair manual for my Craftsman leaf blower! I finally got rid of it by booting into safe mode and running a system restore to a time period before I tried to download the manual. Hopefully my experience will show that you have to be very careful out there! It is not just porn that will infect your computer!

These problems just started yesterday.

1. If I click on the Notices Tab, the application closes

2. If I click on any of the Project buttons (i.e. Home Page, Message Boards, Your Account, etc.) nothing happens.

3. The only Help menu selection that works is "About BOINC Manager..."

I am running Version 7.4.42 (x64)under Windows 7

Here is the activity log.

Gandalf,

Unfortunately, increasing the work buffer to 10 days does NOT help! I have mine set there and still run out of work after 2 days, so I have to babysit Collatz and the other Boinc projects.

collatz has been down since July 16 actually!

For the next person who thinks 7.2.42 has a fix for the screen saver problem, or that any next version will do so and it's not mentioned in the release thread, please always read the release notes.

In the case of 7.2.42, they're strictly:
Changes in 7.2.42

• Fix problem that was causing scheduler RPCs to fail on Yoyo@home (HTTP status code 400)

If I don't use Yoyo@home, why should I update to 7.2.42? If I don't update, how do I get rid of the nag to run the 7.2.42 update?

I have been a contributor to SETI for 11 years now. I too am tired of seeing this waste of clock cycles and bandwidth during their three day outages. As a result until I have a means of avoiding this waste without impacting the other Boinc projects, I am signing out of SETI.

Gundof,

I don't see anything significant in project properties except SETI does show some values for GPU. However, in my SETI account preferences I have use CPU as YES and use GPU as NO.
