Posted 1 Dec 2016 by DarkStar Post: Well that did it!!!! Once I saw the original config, I figured the value just had to be changed. However, I waited for a reply before doing so. Once done and BOINC restarted, the 4 startup files downloaded and I now have 13 tasks. I had set the limit low while troubleshooting, but have raised it now. Tasks are now rolling in. Too weird. Both #1 and #2 values are set for 0. I wonder why it suddenly would not work with 0. Many thanks to all of you for all of the help provided!! |

Posted 1 Dec 2016 by DarkStar Post: Nothing Torrent on it to my knowledge. I loaded and configured this from scratch, and no one else has/had access. I have not done much with it except to configure the OS, a few necessary programs, and run BOINC. This build is to replace the older laptop; #1. #1 is my day to day; email, web, etc. #2 is going to replace a older desktop that is currently not up No projects running except BOINC. Just out of curiosity, I checked my account to see when #3 last contacted the server. It was 30 Nov 2016, 21:35:09 UTC. Thanks. |

I ran both of the command lines from the admin prompt. No change. I rerouted the cable directly to the SOHO. No change. |

Posted 1 Dec 2016 by DarkStar Post: I will work on rearranging the wired network ASAP, and get back with you soon. #3 and #2 are connected to another switch which is connected to the SOHO; #1 is directly connected to the SOHO #3 has no other known network issues and am able to reach all sites via browser that I have tried save that one BOINC site suggested. I had already set DNS manually on #3 to the Open DNS servers as part of the troubleshooting process. It was DHCP via the SOHO prior to that. BOINC was working fine on #3 just last week. Can't remember when I loaded AVG Free, but I saw no issues with BOINC after the fact until I started #3 back up Tuesday after a few days off. The free version doesn't contain a firewall anyway, and it has been uninstalled since last night. Wild geese, red herrings ... :) Just for reference, I was employed as a computer/network technician for 15 years prior to my retirement in September. |

Posted 1 Dec 2016 by DarkStar Post: Thanks. I no longer have an AV program loaded on this computer (let's call it #3) I have turned off Defender (temporarily of course - got to love Microsoft). All three of my computers are on the same network going through a PEPWAVE Surf SOHO to a Verizon MIFI. All are hard wired. I am not having BOINC issues with two of the computers (let's call them #1 [Win7] and #2 [Win10]). Computer #3, which is having the issues, cannot connect to that URL using either IE or Firefox. Computer #1, which is not having issues, will not connect to that URL. Computer #2, which is not having issues, will connect to that URL. Any other thoughts? Thanks for you help. [/b] |

The third one will not upload completed work nor download new tasks. I have done the following: added both boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe to the incoming and outgoing rules of Windows firewall (configured to allow), disabled the firewall completely, disabled AVG Free (no firewall installed), rebooted multiple times, and removed any disk space restrictions from the BOINC preferences.
