I turned out the BOINC behavior had nothing to do with the Power Nap preference under energy settings--even with that disabled, it would still run with the cover closed.

3) Message boards : Questions and problems : Laptop keeps running when closed (Message 74335) Posted 24 Nov 2016 by kongjie Post: I've recently reinstalled BOINC on a MacBook Pro running El Capitan 10.11.6. If I close the laptop when BOINC is running, instead of sleeping, it continues to run closed. I assume this is not expected behavior. Any ideas on how to stop this?
