I just had a look at the init.d file, saw where the defaults were, saw where the --gui_rpc_auth option was you described, and am now able to administer this with the gui. Still quite confused as to how this would be done via the command line, since it appeared to get absolutely nowhere. thanks! Christopher

2) Message boards : Questions and problems : Authorization Failure [ -155, -102 ] (Message 30387) Posted 31 Dec 2009 by Kris Post: I've just put together an Ubuntu 9.10 box specifically for Boinc/setiathome. It's running from startup. Every time I run boinccmd to try and attach it to a project, or even do anything with it at all, I always get "Authorization falure: -<number>". It seems to want a password for the client where one doesn't exist - I haven't set one nor can I even find a way to set one. It's running out of the /var/lib/boinc-client directory, and all the commands I'm using are being run while in that directory. The errors file stdoutdae.txt tells me that it's getting GUI requests from non-allowed addresses. I see no facility to enter an address to allow in the first place. Any suggestions? thanks, Christopher
