I was looking at the output of boinccmd --get_state, and I was wondering if there was any way I could see what application a certain task is using.

There is a separate category for 'Tasks' and 'Applications', but in the 'Tasks' section, there is no reference to the application an individual task is using.

I originally thought the number of the task corresponded with the number of the application, but right now I have 2 tasks and 3 applications, so that can't be it.

I'm asking because I'm writing a simple PHP script to read the output of boinccmd --get_state, and it would be a lot more user friendly if instead of the code-like task name, the application (which can be translated into a certain kind of research) would be displayed.

Kind regards,
Elco

Actually I did, but I have to admit I didn't fully understand what they were saying there.

Are they actually saying I need to run Debian inside a virtual machine on Ubuntu in order to compile my applications? Or alternatively use Windows to compile?

For a schoolproject, a friend of mine has build a supercomputer, and he has asked me to write an application that can take full advantage of all the computers that are linked together.

He is using BOINC to have the computers work together, and he uses Debian Linux as the operating system.

So, I'm trying to get Boinc installed on my computer running Ubuntu Linux 9.10. I'm kind of a noob with Linux, so I just selected in Synaptic Package Manager:
- boinc
- boinc-manager
- boinc-dev
- boinc-client

So I found out BOINC Manager is working, but when I try to complile a C++ application (in Geany) using the BOINC api (with include <boinc_api.h>) the compiler tells me it can't find boinc_api.h.

I probably forgot to do something very stupid, but I really can't find out what is wrong. When I compile a C++ application that doesn't use the BOINC api, it works just fine.

I would really appriciate it if someone could give me a little help as to what I'm doing wrong, but please keep in mind that I'm not very experienced with Linux, so the easier the better.

Thank you in advance!
