Connection Problems

Posted 14 Dec 2005 by Fiona Hughes Post: My problem also solved - I tried the thing with gui_rpc_auth.cfg again. Noticed that in my case the file had NO return at the end of the string, so I just replaced the characters with a new password and saved. It worked. Thanks all. |

BOINC Manager :
Connection Problems
(Message 1845)
Posted 13 Dec 2005 by Fiona Hughes Post: Hello, I'm yet another user with connection problems, although mine seems relatively simple! I installed 5.13 on Monday as I found the previous version would only run when set to "always" - it seemed to think I was active whenever it tried to start up. I used the default options. Everything was fine that day, but today, after a reboot I find boincmgr has started (icon visible in task bar), but it is totally unresponsive. Launching it again gives me a status bar saying "connecting to localhost" and an hourglass cursor which never goes away. Task manager says boincmgr.exe is running, but not boinc.exe, which I believe should be running, if my reading of these posts is correct. If I start boinc.exe manually, all is OK, except I have it sitting there on the start bar all day. How can I force it to start when boincmgr.exe is launched? Shouldn't it do it itself? |
