Posted 10 Nov 2009 by Chip Geek Post: Thank you. I feel like such a fool as it says it won't work with Vista (and I know implied Windows 7 too) right in the text next to the check box. My only excuse is that I have some Windows XP boxes too and as everyone knows the daemon service works just fine there. 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_intelx86 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Running as a daemon 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Data directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Running under account boinc_master 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6] 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Processor: 4.00 MB cache 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Edition, Service Pack 3, (05.01.2600.00) 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 3.85 GB virtual 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Disk: 153.38 GB total, 145.07 GB free 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Local time is UTC -6 hours 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 19038, CUDA version 2030, compute capability 1.1, 1024MB, 470 GFLOPS peak) 11/9/2009 11:36:29 PM Not using a proxy I will now search the forum to see if there is any possibility to get the daemon service working on Vista / Win-7. I suspect the answer is "no" and is due to some MS issue. Thank you for the prompt answer. I am happily running my GPU now. |

Posted 10 Nov 2009 by Chip Geek Post: Nope - that's not it either. Driver 190.38, BOINC 6.6.38 doesn't work either. I give up until someone can give me an idea of something else to try. 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.6.38 for windows_x86_64 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8k zlib/1.2.3 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Running as a daemon 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Running under account boinc_master 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10] 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 7.99 GB virtual 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Disk: 297.99 GB total, 274.06 GB free 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Local time is UTC -6 hours 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM No CUDA-capable NVIDIA GPUs found 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM No coprocessors 11/9/2009 11:55:08 PM Not using a proxy |

Posted 10 Nov 2009 by Chip Geek Post: Still no good. Next I will try downgrading the driver to 190.38 (Note: I did NOT upgrade the driver to 191.07 when upgrading BOINC to 6.10.18. Posted 10 Nov 2009 by Chip Geek Post: I am also having the same problem after "upgrading" to BOINC 6.10.18 from 6.6.41. This is a newly built system, Windows 7-64 bit and has been running BOINC 24/7 for a couple of weeks. GTX 275, driver 191.07 I will downgrade to 6.6.38 and see if that fixes it. At the moment, I think there is a bug in 6.10.18. 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_x86_64 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Running as a daemon 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Running under account boinc_master 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10] 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Processor: 2.00 MB cache 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 7.99 GB virtual 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Disk: 297.99 GB total, 274.82 GB free 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Local time is UTC -6 hours 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM No usable GPUs found 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM GPUGRID Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM GPUGRID Missing coprocessor for task 99-KASHIF_HIVPR_twomons_ba2-62-100-RND7308_0 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM GPUGRID Missing coprocessor for task 60-GIANNI_BIND_650-20-100-RND5019_1 11/9/2009 8:11:21 PM Not using a proxy |
