Better yet, have them open Boinc Manager, Options, Options, Connections, set it to use "Local Area Network (LAN) connection", OK out.

Belated thanks for your help, that fixed it. [Wish] withdrawn.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try both solutions when I get the chance.

I have BOINC running on a number of other people's Windows XP machines (with their permission) on condition that it does not disturb what they are doing. Recent versions of the manager pop up alert boxes if they are having problems with network access, which is irritating for the owner of the machine. I need an option setting which will disable this feature.

It's possible to find out what version a given host is running, it's just not convenient.

Go to the host page, click on "view results", then find one that has been returned, click on the result id... BOINC version (and application version) are in there.

So... the info is getting to the server, it's just not in a very nice place.

Aha! There it is! Thanks for that. Not ideal but a lot easier than a double hop of telnet.

BoincView shows that and a wealth of other info;
May be something here, Boinc addons and plugins

Many of my client machines are on private networks not accessible from here, so that's probably not going to help.

A simple one for the wishlist:

Would it be possible for the "Your Computers" page to show the version of the BOINC client running on that machine. It would make it a lot easier to deal with the release of a new version.

Hopefully if this information is already passed between client and server it should be an easy thing to add.
