Thank you very much. I'll get rid of the protected application execution, immediately.

I did want to run under an unprivileged user account, though.

MS DEVs take note. As if they'll see this.

Maybe I'll go complain on a MS forum. Though I don't know where the forum resides, atm.

Thanks again for the assist, Claggy. Nice link.

I haven't loaded a specific DirectX version, whatever is native to a fresh Windows 7 install. There are 2 GTX 260 Core 216 cards from eVGA installed in SLi. GPUGRID lists these processors in green on the compatibility list. So, I should be good to go, n'est pas? Running BOINC 6.10.60. nVidia driver v. 266.58.

To answer my own questions, the CPU project from AQUA running on 8 cores stops.

The number of threads available changes to 7. However, only 6 WUs would run.

That leaves one core free of CPU tasks.

Do you mean to say one thread? I have eight threads on each machine.

Also, how will restricting one core or thread affect my running AQUA eight core WUs?

How do I avoid the situation above? On several computers I have noticed the message. On these computers I have GPU tasks taking up a portion of a core. On two of the machines I have two GPUs running GPUGrid. On one machine, I have two GTX 260s eating up .32 CPU each. On the other 2 GPU machine, I have 2 GTX 460s eating up .11 CPU each. The 260s are running with an i7 920 and the 460s are running with an i7 950. Does the BOINC manager allow one to "set aside" one thread (both machines are hyperthreaded) just for GPUs? Don't tell me I have to set up some arcane XML file to configure the rigs properly, please.

I've noticed many rigs on my farm with one of these two errors. I just open the mgr and go to Advanced/Select computer/click ok, and BOINC begins running again. All my rigs are running 6.6.41. Is there some way to keep them from going down and having to be manually reset?
