21) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC and F-Secure (Message 45184)

The solution is to exclude the BOINC data directory and all of its files and sub-directories from being (actively) scanned by your AV scanner. Only scan in here manually, after you exited or suspended BOINC.

Thanks for your answer Jord, I just found out how to do that and did it. However files are still not uploading. Do I need to reboot the system?

Hello all,

My ISP gives F-Secure for free in the subscription as a replace for McAffee.
However since the update of F-Secure I have problems with uploading of LHC@home and Rosetta@home. Einstein@home is still working fine.
The provider and F-Secure don't know how to handle the problem.
Booting the PC and flushing dns, does not work, neither does disableing the F-Secure firewall.
Removing F-Secure results in the ready WU's to upload immidiately.
Does anyone know how to solve this huge problem?
LHC is generating HTTP error messages, if that my help.

Thanks a lot.
23) Message boards : Questions and problems : Version 7.0.18 is asking ATI wu's only (Message 42739)

Post:
No, that's a feature. All normal. This is in case LHC ever releases an ATI app, then your BOINC will automatically go fetch work for your GPU from that project. It'll do separate requests for work for the CPU, you probably just have enough work still on your system.

As for using a development version of BOINC, do keep up when new versions come out. These aren't development versions for nothing.

Thanks for letting me know Jord.

Hello,

Am I right with my question. I just updated to BOINC 7.0.18 for running Albert@home, but now for LHC it is only asking ATI wu's and no CPU while LHC@home doesn't have ATI wu's.
Is this a bug, or a setting I haven't found?

Thanks again.
25) Message boards : Questions and problems : How can I resolve a HTTP error (Message 42728)

Not when the project in question is congested. I suppose you're talking about Seti? They're a bit clogged up due to their 2 day server outage earlier this week. usually by Friday everything's tapering off, but not now.

So it's just that it can't upload as a couple of thousand of other computers are also trying to do so. Like trying to thread a sausage through a needle. Patience, it'll get there.

Not this is LHC, with hardly any work, so servers can't be in stress.
Other project is Rosetta that won't upload for days, so that deadlines are not met. Patience is nice to have, but files that are days in the queue, even when deadline is over, will not work.
Moreover I want this PC out before the weekend.

I will do, no strange things to see.

This is strange to me:

a file has Size 16.00/42.10KB (38% progress) and the upload speed is 43.84KBps and is already 1:22:04 hours uploading.
That don't make sence to me. it should be there within the second though?

Hello,

I thought to ask it in another question. Perhaps that lead to some possibilities to resolve my problem. I can't be the only one.
Several project won't upload because a HTTP error.

Einstein@home is running flawlessly, as usual, on all my crunching rig. So BOINC and communication seems to work.

I tried a few things and posted on the site of Rosetta, but it seems I am the only one. Or there are not enough questions for the admins to react.
Strange thing is that Rosetta is giving me new work and when ready it won't upload. Same with LHC (who has only very limited work). Einstein and MilkyWay running fine, so it couldn't be my system was my idea and Ageless confirms.
I will see it a few more days and then no more Rosie and LHC on this machine.

The problem is still not over. I have reset rosetta once more. I am now getting new WU's and need to wait if they upload.
However after a long wait LHC has work and on one PC they run fine and upload.
You guess already. On this particular system they won't upload. Again the HTTP error.
What can I do?
Einstein and MilkyWay run on this machine too and they upload without any problem.

If you like folding, try Human Proteome Folding, Phase 2, which is a stable Rosetta version. Run at WCG by a former associate of Dr.B, the project has accumulated over 100,000 runtime years of contributions. Rarely a false note.

We've had our share of http issues, one of them was that 6.12.34 and up had upload problems that do not show with 6.12.33. For/by WCG, 6.10.58 is recommended, as installed with their many college/high school and corporate contributors to the grid.

I will try it later indeed. I like project for medicine that is way I am with Rosetta, but the support from them is awfull if one has issues.
Earlier problem has to do with the move of the servers and someone from the crunching community gave a workaround instead of from th project.
I run 6.10.17, 6.10.58 and 6.10.60 with no problems for other projects and normally no problems for Rosetta as well. It started last Friday and overnight on another pc again.

Eventually I did a detach and reatach to Rossetta and that seems to work.
However at this moment there a 2 new WU's that won't upload so it must be a problem at Rosetta, but all silent there as usual.

Hello,
I don't know what is happening with BOINC on my systems last 3 days, but now I all have running on an AMD, I have set CPU use to 75%, so I keep one core to use for myself, it is only running one WU at a time.
How is that possible?
Thanks

It uploaded well so BOINC version 6.10.17 is working fine.

I just remember that Rosetta have moved databases a few weeks ago and indeed this pc was of since then. Could that be it?

Didn't 6.10.17 have DNS caching Bug?, you could try upgrading to the latest Boinc 6.10.x version (6.10.60) and see if that is any better.

Claggy

I didn't know of that bug, but a few weeks back this version was working for me.
I will update later but when I do that now I loss these 3 WU's and the fourth running.

Although we can try one quick solution as well.
Use the following cc_config.xml to change the client's use of HTTP from 1.1 to 1.0; some ISPs fare better with HTTP 1.0 connections.

<cc_config>
<options>
<http_1_0>1</http_1_0>
</options>
</cc_config>

I did this too but seems not to work either.

The issue with MilkyWay I resolved by Detach and then Attach again, as I was not having any WU's of them. That worked as I get WU's now again.
I won't like to that with Rosetta as I loose the 3 WU's then.

What must I do to get things working again?
Thanks for the help in anticipation.
