I found an entry in the Universe@home forum and dowloaded the file ca-bundle.crt from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XC3XHmjaZRYvJ2P3OzFaW62i4ShYThz8/view and installed it. Then I terminated BOINC and started it again. I am contributing to the research network BOINC which offers background tasks for scientific computations using the installed Graphic Processing Unit GeForce GTX 1050 for Einstein@home and Milkyway@home.. They propose me to install the newest GeoForce Driver for their software to re-establish use of the GPU. My driver version is 23.21.13.9135 released on 23.03.2018. Microsoft Windows 7 tells me that is the newest driver available. Do you have know how to download a newer one for Windows 7 ? Is it still possible to use the old version to contribute to BOINC ? This is to protect against abuse of the system. So I can't earn any credit without help for the errors and I am banned from asking for help in the fora. What does that mean and how can I restart this task again ? I use BOINC 7.6.33(x64) on WIndows 7 Pro. Today I have severe problems with T-DSL (Deutsche Telekom) that interrupts its DNS service every 5 min. and I have to reset my modem swithcing the power off and on. (Message 40253) Posted 19 Sep 2011 by Jochen Post: Dear BOINCexperts, the following problem keeps me worrying since mir than 1 year and I could not get any reasonable hint to help. At now I use version 6.12.34 64-bit. It is no more possible to detach from a project, evewn if I have resetted and there are no more compurtations running. The pushbutteon to detach is deactivated. I have already osted this question here but with no useful answers. Is it possible do cancel the file folder ? Where can I find them in Windows 7 prof ? If necessary I could send you a screenshot of the BOINC manager so you can see that the 'Entfernen' Botton is deactivated. At now I have changed my LHC@home project to the new server adress but now I could not get rid of the old one. Please help. Thanks Jochen from Germany

Unfortunately, that is far from the case with many of today's machines. Beneath their smooth exteriors, modern computers behave in wildly unpredictable ways, said Luis Ceze, a UW assistant professor of computer science and engineering. "With older, single-processor systems, computers behave exactly the same way as long as you give the same commands. Today's computers are non-deterministic. Even if you give the same set of commands, you might get a different result," Ceze said. He and UW associate professors of computer science and engineering Mark Oskin and Dan Grossman and UW graduate students Owen Anderson, Tom Bergan, Joseph Devietti, Brandon Lucia and Nick Hunt have developed a way to get modern, multiple-processor computers to behave in predictable ways, by automatically parceling sets of commands and assigning them to specific places. Sets of commands get calculated simultaneously, so the well-behaved program still runs faster than it would on a single processor. Next week at the International Conference on Architectural Support for Programming Languages and Operating Systems in Pittsburgh, Bergan will present a software-based version of this system that could be used on existing machines. It builds on a more general approach the group published last year, which was recently chosen as a top paper for 2009 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' journal ... multiple processors are responsible for elusive errors that freeze Web browsers and crash programs. It is not so different from the classic chaos problem in which a butterfly flaps its wings in one place and can cause a hurricane across the globe. Modern shared-memory computers have to shuffle tasks from one place to another. The speed at which the information travels can be affected by tiny changes, such as the distance between parts in the computer or even the temperature of the wires. Information can thus arrive in a different order and lead to unexpected errors, even for tasks that ran smoothly hundreds of times before.

Die muss ich dann über den TaskManagher beenden. ... Habe soeben die Version 6.6.36 wieder installiertgemacht, scheint zu funktionieren. Ich habe die 2 unvollständig geladenen Aufgaben gelöscht. Ich kann das BOINC-Programm nicht bedienen, weil ja ständig das Meldungsfenster 'Kommuniziere mit dem BOINC-Client...' kommt. Die Version 6.4.7 könnte ich wieder installieren, ich werde es aber mal mit der vorhergehenden 6.6.36. probieren. Du schlägst, wenn sonst nicht hilft, einen Eintrag in der Datei client_state.xml vor. Was hat der genannte Parameter zu bedeuten, die 3 statt der 1 ? ? <user_network_request>3</user_network_request> Danke für die Hilfe Jochen

20) Message boards : Questions and problems : Boinc bleibt beim Aufbau einer Verbindung haengen, auch nach Neustart (Message 28010) Posted 14 Oct 2009 by Jochen Post: Das folgende Problem habe ich noch nicht bei BOINC gehabt, obwohl ich schon 4 jahre lang dabei bin. Ich bearbeite z.Zt. 8 Projekte, zuletzt Cosmology@home und climateprediction.net, nutze z.Zt. die Version BOINC 6.6.38 deutsch mit Win XP SP3 Pro. Ich war bei den letzten 2 Cosmology-Projekten über die Endzeit und wollte sie daher abbrechen. Damit begann der Ärger. Es blieb nach dem Runterfahren von Boinc und dem beenden der Aufgaben noch eine Anwendung aktiv, wie ich im Windows Task manager sehen konnte. Die habe ich dann über den Task-Manager abgebrochen. Beim Neustart von BOINC versuchte der Boincmgr, neue Aufgaben von cosmology@home zu laden, lud auch 2 vollständig herunter und war weitere 2 am Herunterladen. Dummerweise habe ich dann die Internetverbindung (TR-DSL 2000) unterbrochen. Danach blieb BOINC mit der AAnzeige hängen: 'Kommuniziere mit dem BOINC Client. Bitte warten...' und bleibt da hängen. Wenn ich versuche, daws Programm zu beenden, ist das nicht so einfach, weil das Fenster immer wiederkommt und Eingaben ins Beenden-Fenster von BOINC blockiert. Es gelingt mir trotzdem nach vielen versuchen, das runterzufahren. Wenn ich nun BOINC neu starte, bleibt er immer wieder mit der o.g. Meldung 'Kommuniziere mit dem BOINC-CLient...' hängen. Nach Abbruch vie Task-Manager und Neustart von Windows gleiches Ergebnis. Nach Reparatur-Installation von boinc_6.6.38_windows_intelx86.exe das gleiche Ergebnis - er bleibt wieder hängen beim Versuch, zu kommunizieren. Zuvor lädt er aber noch die bisherigen TASK-Einstellungen, zeigt auch an, dass er 2 Cosmology-Arbeitseinheiten geladen hat und weitere 2 am herunterladen ist. climateprediction wird dann als aktiv eangezeigt, läuft aber nicht, d.h. geht nicht voran. Das Programm ist also unbedienbar, weil es sofort nach dem Neustart wieder versucht, Verbindung aufzubauen, und da hängen bleibt. Was kann ich tun ? Kann ich vermeiden, BOINC zu deinstallieren, komplett zu löschen, neu zu installieren und dann jede Menge Credits und STunden, die ich für climateprediction gerechnet habe, zu verlieren ? Vielen Dank für einen baldigen Hinweis, damit ich BOINC weiter arbeiten lassen kann. mfG Jochen
