Finally, I found the problem. I THOUGHT I had plenty of disk space, but there was a file in the BOINC directory, BOINC/SLOTS/0/STDERR.TXT, that had ballooned to 586 MEGABYTES and eaten-up all my free disk space. It had to do with repeating error messages that just accumulated. I deleted it and now BOINC works OK. In my case, BOINC is installed in drive D. I thought the free space requirement was for drive C and only realized what was going on when drive D ran completely out of space for no apparent reason and I was finally forced to investigate the matter in depth. I looked at the D drive with "Tree Size" and the bloated folder popped-up immediately. I would agree in that there are some aspects of BOINC that could definitely be improved

Disk space used was 16MB and 4MB respectively. Now I get the messages below stating that BOTH want 100MB !!!! I changed my preferences from 100 to 150MB but nothing changed. 4) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Won't run unless always on (Message 1790) Posted 11 Dec 2005 by GabrielL Post: I have BOINC installed in two different machines (same default preferences on both). One installation (laptop) works fine. The other (desktop) will not process unless "Commands" is set to "Run Always". Otherwise, if it is set to "Run Based on Preferences" BOINC's screen saver comes up but just states that "BOINC is currently suspended" and no processing takes place. As soon as I set it to "Run Always" it works just fine ?????
